Come on, come on, yeah
Ba dum ba dum bum, hmmmmmm

I know that you don't know me
But I just wanna let you know
Nooo, yeah yeah
I know that you don't know me
But I just wanna let you know
Nooo, yeah yeah

Where did it stop and where did it go?
I don't know, nah, I don't know
You used to smile, you'd walk in a room
You would glow, it would show

And now you're older, you're lonely
You'd walk home, and you'd follow me
Displaying all your problems
Displaying all your dislikes
Displaying, you're playing,
You're playing

And I know that you don't know me
But I just, I just wanna let you know
N-n-no, no no no no no no no no no no
I know that you don't know me
But I just wanna let you know
Nooooo

Holding back your feelings
You're building up the walls
Screaming through the windows
Crawling through the halls

Holding back your feelings
You're holding back your feelings
Yeah, oh
And you're, always walking into the past
Trying to make those good times last
But it give it up, it's gone, it's long lost
It's long lost, it's long lost

And baby you're, crazy, but I love it
I can't get enough of it
You're crazy, crazy, but I love it, I love it
I can't get, can't get, enough of it

You're older but you're lonely
You'd walk home and you'd follow me
Displaying all your favorites
Saying how you, saying how you love me
Saying how you love me
Saying how you love me

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
