Here we go again
Another night of being bummed
I'll keep to myself, avoid the sun
And cancel plans with everyone I know
'Cause it's just how it always ends
Our bond will break 'cause you can't relate
To anyone, to anything at all

You brought your worst, and I'm right here (right here)
No, I've seen it all
And it's never been so clear

You're not the person that I knew back then (back then)
It's all too late to set things straight, 'cause everything has been
You're not the person that I knew back then
Let's try and act like this didn't happen
Follow your friends like you ever had them

You still know me
Still not cut out for this sort of thing
Never wanted to be caught in between
I need constant reminders of everything
(So what?) It's who I am
I played it off so well
I just hold it in no matter how I've been
So nobody, nobody can tell

You brought your worst, and I'm right here (right here)
No, I've seen it all
And it's never been so clear

You're not the person that I knew back then (back then)
It's all too late to set things straight, 'cause everything has been
You're not the person that I knew back then
Let's try and act like this didn't happen
Follow your friends like you ever had them

I won't sleep 'til the break of dawn (break of dawn)
Can't let our problems find me here
So everybody, come on

You brought your worst, and I'm right here
No, I've seen it all
And it's never been so clear

You're not the person that I knew back then (back then)
It's all too late to set things straight, 'cause everything has been
You're not the person that I knew back then
Let's try and act like this didn't happen
Follow your friends like you ever had them

(You're not the person that I knew back then)
(It's all too late to set things straight, 'cause everything has been)
(You're not the person that I knew back then)
(Let's try and act like this didn't happen)
(Follow your friends like you ever had them)

    My Interpretation

I think that instead of being about a relationship, this song could be about a friendship that died away.

Like, you two have been friends for practically forever, but then that person starts to change and you can't stand their company anymore. Then the friendship starts to crumble, and you two eventually break it off completely.

    Does that make sense?

Real lyrics should be closer to

Here we go again, Another night of being bummed I'll keep to myself, avoid the sun and cancel plans with everyone

I know 'cause this is how it always ends, our bond will break 'Cause you can't relate to anyone, to anything at all.

You brought your worst and I"m right here Now I've seen it all And it's never been so clear

You're not the person I knew back then It's all to late to set things straight, because everything has been.

You're not the person that I knew back when, So lets try and act like this didn't happen Move on with your friends Like you ever had them

But you still know me, Still not cut out for this sort of thing Never one to be caught in between I need constant reminders of everything. (So what?!)

So what? It's who I am, But I think I've played it off so well I just hold it in no matter how I've been so no body can tell.

You brought your worst and I"m right here Now I've seen it all And it's never been so clear

You're not the person I knew back then It's all to late to set things straight, because everything has been.

I won't sleep till the break of dawn. I can't let our problems find me here, so everybody come on!

In AP magazine Jeremy said that this is about what was going on in his relationship with his ex-girlfriend of 4 years near the end of their relationship. He moved out of their shared apartment and in with parents again. Overall he said he tries to convey throughout the record that he was too involved with work to be with someone.

i think it's about a boy & a girl who were really in love but eventhough, broke up since they just can't go on with the relationship, because they often fight + she can't releate to his family & friends

because he loves her so much, he always retreats, and cancels plans he had just to be with her

oh how much i can relate to this song....

    also, this line

I need constant reminders of everything. (So what?!)

is cause Jeremy has a TERRIBLE short term memory. Sweet how he incorporated that

I agree with goregoregadget. She ended up being someone completely different in the end. My favorite lines are

You brought your worst and I"m right here Now I've seen it all And it's never been so clear

...like she screwed him over but he's still standing and he says the real her which is most likely a bitch.

I think it's kind of about being used as a shoulder to cry on, then when she's over it, she's a fake bitch you didn't know before haha. Hence, "You brought your worst and I'm right here, Now I've seen it all, and its never been so clear. You're not the person that I knew back then" Same situation happened to me. When she was in pieces, I was always there to put her back on her feet, even if it meant canceling plans, like the song says. And then when she found out she could stay on her own two feet, I got left in the dust.

i think its about someone he was with and loved but then things changed they broke up and the next time they saw each other she was a whole new person most likely a bad one at that

    Song Meaning

This song is about how he had a girlfriend and he saw her true colors after being with her for so long. He knew her for her better and for worse, but was still there for her and he had an epiphany that she was just a shady person and he would just live in his own sorrow but would keep everything to himself. Hence, the lyric: "You're not the person that I knew back then"

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
