I welcome this pain beating down on me
Is it your eyes that choose not to see?
All I would do, if only you knew
All of my trust was given to you

Oh, please, this is what I can give
What else do you need from me?
I might be sick, broken, torn to pieces
So, whatever this is, this thing that now I've become
You hate it so much, you keep on running from it
No matter the distance, oh
No matter how, no matter how far

I bury this hurt
Concealed in this heart
Go lock all your doors
These cold steps will warm

Oh, please, this is what I can give
What else do you need from me?
I might be sick, broken, torn to pieces
So, whatever this is, this thing that now I've become
You hate it so much, you keep on running from it
No matter the distance, oh
No matter how, no matter how far
No matter how far
Far it is

Please, this is what I can give
What else do you need from me?
I might be sick, broken, torn to pieces
So, whatever this is, this thing that now I've become
You hate it so much, you keep on running from it
No matter the distance, oh
No matter how, no matter how far

No matter how far
No matter how far
No matter how far
No matter how, no matter how far

    My Interpretation

hmm i feel that Coheed is hurt because how he has changed. he might be sick and "broken"(mentally/physically) but he is still Coheed deep down. Cambria does not see it that way even if in her heart she thinks it so("Is it your eyes that choose not to see"), pushing him away. he can give chase and yet he can never get to her..even if he pleads("Oh, please, this is what I can give What else do you need from me?")Cambria "needs" Coheed to be himself again. that is something he can never give.

I feel this distance might be "emotional" and not distance apart.

"No matter the distance, no matter how,no matter how far"-- i feel this hints at this:no matter how far this goes she will never be the same towards him.

over all i think Coheed is very heart broken. the one he loves, the only one he gave his trust in, shut him out when he needed them the most.

this is what i think anyway.

Well, this is with very little doubt my favorite song on the album.

I see this song as Cambria being off somewhere else, possibly lost on a mission, but for whatever reason far from Coheed. So he's emoing about, and has an epiphany about what Cambria thinks and how he feels about her. And then he goes to sleep and mulls over it some more. That alarm-sounding bit is his alarm going off, distorted because this song is probably taking place in Coheed's distorty old mind. And then those bell sounding things about half-way through the song are the alarms of the KBI base going off because Coheed is breaking out to go see Cambria. He's in such a hurry because he has to go and confess his love in the rain while both are crying and because she's telepathically reaching out to him because she's in trouble. The way I see YotBR's story puts Cambria as a helpless woman in need of rescuing far (Ha!) too often. Far far too often.

As interesting as the theories that Etherealfrog and jezdamayel have put forth, they are completely off-base. Sorry, but true. Actually, this takes place long before Coheed and Cambria are created and just before the Doctor even conceives of their creation. KQRulz3000 and Zorlin are correct in that this song is about another couple in the story. This song is about Dr Leonard Hoenberger and Pearl Hoenberger's marriage falling apart after the death of their son, Joseph, by the hands of Wilhelm Ryan's Red Army at a "peace rally" to protest the Mage War turned violent (awesome imagery used by Sanchez/David to depict the scene). Pearl blames Leonard for the death of Joseph, as he was the one who succumbed to Joseph's rhetoric and allowed him to attend the rally and voice his opinions. Leonard, as well, blames himself for Joseph's death. And so, allows the onslaught of Pearl's wrath, which is just about the only emotion she shows anymore after the death of HER son (HER's, not Leonard's; well, not how she sees it anymore). Her Feelings persist in this manner until ... Well, I don't want to give the WHOLE story away just yet.

yea its definitely about pearl and the doctor. I even think claudio threw in the "FLIES" before the guitar solo to reinforce the point here. Can't think of another reason for putting that in there at that point in the story other than she was really focused on them during this point in the story and barely communicating with Leonard ( if i recall correctly ).

Okay, my PERSONAL meaning in this song is WAY off base from the artists intent, but songs speak to people in different ways, and I wanted to share my take.

The first time I ever heard this C&C song, my husband who is currently deployed to AFGHANISTAN sent it to me in an email and asked me to listen. I had been having a lot of trouble accepting the job he had taken, and the sacrifice he was making as a soldier. For us...to me...he was explaining how this sacrifice hurts him and asking me to stop running from the reality we are facing right now.

"I welcome this pain beating down on me Is it your eyes that choose not to see all I would do? If only you knew All of my trust was given to you..." In this part,he tells me that he's welcoming the sacrifice he's making and asks me to understand that while he would do anything for me, I have to accept this.

"Oh, please, this is what I can give What else do you need from me?" Again, explaining that right now, this is all he can give.

"I might be sick, broken, torn to pieces..." They literally are over there...it's a hard life.

"So, whatever this is, this thing that now I've become, you hate it so much, you keep on running from it No matter the distance, no matter how, no matter how far..." I hate the fact that he's become a soldier, and I often try to run from the reality of it. But no matter the distance between us (literally or figuratively) the truth is still there.

This song moved me to tears when he sent it to me. I realized that I had been making it harder for him. It's such a tough place to be, to have to say goodbye to someone you love so much for so long and know that there is a the possibility that you may never see them again. Instead of being strong for him, I was falling apart as well, begging for him to be sent home when I knew he couldn't. I realized I needed to be strong. It was my turn to be HIS rock. And so I have ever since then. I encourage him to fight hard, and stay safe everyday. Still waiting for him to come home safe and sound. This song will always mean something very important to me. My husband is literally giving all he can give, so I must do the same.

    Chorus suggestions:

Oh, please, this is what I CAN give What else DO you need from me? I might be SICK, broken, torn to pieces So, whatever this is, this thing that now I'll become You HATE IT (not sure on this one... they're homophones) too much, you keep on running from it.

    My Interpretation

This is a rather uneducated(and possibly obvious) theory, but I think this song is Coheed talking to Cambria after he is infected with the Monstar virus.- "I might be sick, broken, torn to pieces So, whatever this is, this thing that now I've become, you hate it so much, you keep on running from it"

Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Magical

How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
