I lick the gun, when I'm done
'Cause I know, that revenge is sweet, so sweet
This is a gang, ladies thang
Baby bang, tell me what you need, oh
Any motherfucker wanna disrespect
Playing with fire finna get you wet
How'd it feel down there on your knees, ah
I got these girls like a soldier
Trip and it's going down, down, down

I'm ready to roll
Girl, I'm with you with it get you to get me
So come on let's go
Bitch, I'm with you, if you with it you with me

You know I'm down, I'm down for life
Load and reload it, let's go
Gangster for life
'Til the day that I die yeah
I promise I'm standing by
'Cause you know that I'm down, you know I'm down
Gangster for life

We driving by with them headlights off
We know where you stay, yeah
Know what you did, we don't play that shit

Actin' like a bitch finna get you hurt
Breaking lives down to the knees, oh

So come on let's go
Bitch, I'm with you, if you with it you with me

You know I'm down, I'm down for life

Gangster for life
'Til the day that I die yeah
I promise I'm standing by
'Cause you know that I'm down, you know I'm down
Gangster for life

Come one girls, come on we ain't done yet
Gotta a lot to handle, we ain't took over the world
We're an army, better yet a navy

We got our guns, got our guns
We got our guns, got our guns
We got our guns in the motherfucking air, oh

Gangster for life
I'm down for life
Gangster for life

You know I'm down, I'm down for life
Load and reload it, let's go
Gangster for life
'Til the day that I die yeah
I promise I'm standing by
'Cause you know that I'm down, you know I'm down
Gangster for life

I lick the gun when I'm done
'Cause I know that revenge is sweet

This song is about her having her girlfriends back. She would do anything for her no matter what it is. She would kill for her girlfriends.

    Song Meaning

To me, this is a song that is both angry and threatening, yet vulnerable, at the same time.

A clue comes in the beginning: "Playin' with fire gonna get you wet How that feel down there on your knees, huh" is a reference to sex, violence, and perhaps, being humiliated.

Towards the end is another interest reference to feeling vulnerable: Can't hurt us again when you come around here" is an acknowledgment she has been hurt before and is now with her friends for protection.

Rhianna said it best herself in an interview: “I can tell you that making this album was my recovery. It’s the way I vented and expressed myself”

To me this song is a call to arms, telling people to wave their guns around in the air. She also wants to let everyone know that she is a gangster and always will be. It's a powerful message.

    Song Meaning

I agree with earthsun and MIMl101 to a degree. To me the song is using "gangster for life" in association with the permanent scar that heartbreak and pain leaves on you emotionally and the bond between friends, in this case, sisterhood. Think about it. Gangs, the only way out is death or being rescued/saved away from it. The lyrics:

" You know I'm down for life Load it, reload it, lets go Gangster for life Til the day that I die. "

Her girls are there to back her up in the sense of being her backbone. They won't allow anyone to hurt one of their own or else there will be trouble, they'll stalk out the target, guns will be drawn as the lyrics say, but the hidden meaning is clear:

" I got these girls like a solider Trip and it's goin' down down down

I'm ready to roll Girl I'm with you If they get you they get me So come on let's go Bitch I'm with you if you whippin, you with me. "

    and

" I promise I'll stand and fight Cause you know that I'm down. "

I agree with everyone stating it's about women's empowerment and sisterhood. It also sounds like it's about a group of friends getting revenge for a woman who was in an abusive relationship.

The title of this song stands for "Gangsta For Life."

This track, which sees Rihanna sprouting a series of bad-bitch boasts then purring at the end "Revenge is sweet," was produced by London "dubstep" production duo Chase & Status. Saul Milton, a.k.a. Chase, told BBC's Newsbeat: "This album for her is just about what she likes and what she's into and what she wants

This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
