Sorry for the scales and scabs on my skin
My fists break
and I just can't take it

Sorry for the sores and holes in my heart
There's no love or life
for either of us

You are alone
and LIVING in the desert
finding time to accept
I'm sorry
I'm a FUCKING monster

I'm sorry

I wasn't there
but I think that something was
I was in love
I still believe I am

these stony fingers steal from you
when these damned arms draw you in

won'tlookatme
won'tspeaktome
I am sorry you rotted like the waste of the vine
Even flesh and blood
Even heart and bone
nowopenyoureyes
andnowSayit

I'm the broken lamp man with the telephone injuries
My apologetic arms want to sing you to sleep
You dry heave when I ring and I ring
You knew I was broken and you got what you wanted
You got what you wanted

I'm certain that the cats are still hungry

I wasn't there
but I know that something was
I was in love
I'm sorry that you're dead

    Song Meaning

Theres a few youtube videos where before the song, he says its about "a man hitting a woman and feeling bad about it afterwards"

honestly, i feel like it is a sort of cry out.

a man who knows hes a wreck and a waste of life and that the one person who gave him love, he ended up destroying, not because he wanted to but because its just who he was and he apologizes constantly but he knows itll never bring her back

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
