I went to bed I was thinking about you
Ain't the same since I'm living without you
All the memories are getting colder
All the things that I wanna do over

I went to bed I was thinking about you
I wanna talk and laugh like we used to
When I see you in my dreams at night
It's so real but it's in my mind

And now
I guess
This is as good as it gets

Don't wake me
'Cause I don't wanna leave this dream
Don't wake me
'Cause I never seem to stay asleep enough
When it's you I'm dreaming of
I don't wanna wake up

I went to bed I was thinking about you
And how it felt when I finally found you
It's like a movie playing over in my head
Don't wanna look 'cause I know how it ends
All the words that I said that I wouldn't say
All the promises I made that I wouldn't break
It's last call, last song, last dance
'Cause I can't get you back, can't get a second chance

And now, I guess
This is as good as it gets

Don't wake me
'Cause I don't wanna leave this dream
Don't wake me
'Cause I never seem to stay asleep enough
When it's you I'm dreaming of
I don't wanna wake up

Don't wake me
We're together just you and me
Don't wake me
'Cause we're happy like we used to be
I know I've gotta let you go
But I don't wanna be alone

These dreams of you keep on growing stronger
It ain't a lot but it's all I have
Nothing to do but keep sleeping longer
Don't wanna stop cause I want you back

Don't wake me
'Cause I don't wanna leave this dream
Don't wake me
'Cause I never seem to stay asleep enough
When it's you I'm dreaming of
I don't wanna wake up

Don't wake me
We're together just you and me
Don't wake me
'Cause we're happy like we used to be
I know I've gotta let you go
But I don't wanna be alone

I went to bed I was thinking about you
Cause I don't wanna leave this dream
It ain't the same since I been here without you
Cause I never seem to stay asleep
I know I gotta let you go, I don't wanna wake up

This song is a love lost oriented song. Not being able to get over someone you love(d). The emotionally, mentally and physically splicing of your own self of losing unconditional love. The genuine repercussions of losing love. Suicidal based attitude and feelings and thoughts, not wanting to wake up because the hole where love used to sit has been vacated and life has become unbearable.

    Memory

Man this song has hurt me deeply for the last 5 years. When I was young (like really young) I started liking this girl, and one day (when I was in grade 8) we just stopped talking and that is when I first got into music. This was the first album I bought and when I first heard this song I cried my eyes out. Eventually after that we started talking again, and then like a year later stopped again. Then, as I was trying to work up the courage to talk to her again my mom walked in the house and said they moved to another city. That was 2 years and two months ago and I still can’t stop thinking about her.

Honestly I don’t expect anyone to see this or even care, I’m just a kid in university who can’t sleep at 230 in the morning and wanted to get this story out of me finally.

    My Interpretation

GAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!! I hate what this song is saying (Love the song, hate the meaning) recently i liked someone, and i'm pretty sure they liked me back, but then she moved, and every now and then, i'm thinking of her, and this song exactly fits what's going on. :(

p.s. LOVE THE SONG AND SKILLET EITHER WAY!!

I see where y'all r coming from with the song being about love lost. My take from the first listen has always been that this is about someone who died. Of course the sentiments can be identical when someone who you live deeply walks away or is taken away and there is a void left and a desire for more time with that person. I love this song it almost makes me cry. I feel this way about several people who have died.

Don't wake me Cause I never seem to stay asleep enough When it's you I'm dreaming of.

    This song reminds me a lot of the song "Don't Say Goodbye" off of Comatose. I think this is my favorite song off of this album. Their lyrics are so deep and to me this song has so much meaning. The way I interprut it;

He is dreaming about someone he deeply cares about, but in reality in is not the same. He doesn't want to wake up because he doesn't want to realize the truth that he can't be with the one he truely loves.

    Very strong and powerful.

    10/10

I agree with Ratslab. It's straightforward enough. Amazing. Beautiful. Powerful. This entire album seems to describe what I've went through this past week. Only wish I had gotten my hands on it sooner haha

But really, these songs are Skillet at their best. I'm in love with the new CD

I agree. The song is about a guy who has dreams of the one person he was in love with. But when he wakes up he realizes that he was just dreaming and that the girl he is dreaming about isn't really there and does not really love him.

This song is easily my favorite Skillet song what with the emotion and strength in this song. And for the record, I'm hard-core atheist and I love this band! (The ones that don't make it obvious that they're talking about god)

I think that it could be about missing a loved one that you let go and now you're realizing your mistake.

But now that I'm looking at the lyrics, I think that it could possibly be about God and how this person shunned God away. And now he/she realizes the mistake of that and wants Him back. But they think that it's too late for them and God won't accept them.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
