I had a dream
This one I feel the need to mention
I was happy for a while and I stopped being scared
And ashamed to say what's on my mind
But you thought I'd change after a while
And said you better treat me different or else
Or else seems like a stupid fucking thing to say to someone like me
Someone like me

Wow,
Wow,
Wow,
Wo-wo-wo-wo-wo
Wow

Don't be surprised I can look you in the eye
It's hard to take you serious when you take me Inside
Don't be surprised I can look you in the eye
It's hard to take you serious when you take me Inside
I'm worse than what you think you'd catch from me
Complicateds understated did you stop and take a look at who you fell in love with?
At who you fell in love with?
Does it matter how many times I say it?
It never gets old thats why I have to say

Wow,
Wow,
Wow,
Wo-wo-wo-wo-wo-wo-wo

Don't be surprised I can look you in the eye
It's hard to take you serious when you take me Inside
Don't be surprised I can look you in the eye
It's hard to take you serious when you take me Inside
It doesn't matter if you're going to come or just going
I never wanted you to come here anyway
There's a word thats like you
Because it can be a noun a verb a exclamation or the thing I say
When something is unbelievable when
I'm not able to believe how unbelievably unbelievable
That you believe you could not believable
That's when I have to say

Wow,
Wow,
Wow,
Wo-wo-wo-wo-wo-wo-wo
Wow

Don't be surprised I can look you in the eye
It's hard to take you serious when you take me Inside
Don't be surprised I can look you in the eye
It's hard to take you serious when you take me Inside
It doesn't matter how many times I say it
It never gets old
That's why I have to say

Wow

This is what he said in an interview on SG: "It's funny to me because the first time I played the song, without any singing on it, because the music is so absurd. We just started recording it and I refused to let anybody try and do what they're supposed to do. I said, "Just hit record." I made Twiggy play keyboards, and I started playing guitar with one string on it, and I had a microphone and we got done and the first thing we said was "Wow." Well that's what it is. It's like the "Macarena" of nonsense and confusion, and it really represents something that we always strive to accomplish."

He said that WOW was the first song where he was regaining his confidence back.

    as far as the meaning:

"i had a dream, this one i feel the need to mention."

I think his dream is the relationship here.

"i was happy for 'awhile' and i stopped being scared and ashamed to say what's on my mind"

He played the nice boyfriend and was what she wanted, until he decided to be himself again.

"but you thought i'd change after 'awhile' you said "you'd better treat me different, or else!"

She on the otherhand believed the act as who he was. She gave him an ultimatum.

"or else" seems like a stupid fucking thing to say to someone like me. someone like me? wow. wow. wow.wwwwwwwwwow don't be surprised, i can look you in the eye but it's hard to take you serious when you take me inside."

This whole section is his sheer shock that she thinks she's in control. He's never let anyone else tell him what to do, so what makes you so special. The sex line is perfect since sex is often an act of submission and domination. Its hard to take her demands seriously, when he's so clearly the one doing the f***ing here.

"i am worse than what you think you'd catch from me 'complicated' is understated, did you stop and take a look at who you fell in love with? at who you fell in love with?" it doesn't matter how many times i say it. it never gets old. that's why i have to say...

He's telling her he's worse than she EVER thought and she should've looked a little harder at who he was, since he's always been this way and he's never changed. Why would you fall in love with someone like me when you knew what I was about.

"it doesn't matter if you're going to come or just going. i never wanted you to come here anyway"

Here he's pretty much saying. I didn't want to fall for you, or you to fall for me. The sexual was best.

"there's a word that's like you because it can be a noun, a verb, an exclamation or the thing i say when something is unbelievable. "when i'm not able to believe how unbelievably unbelievable that you believe you could not be leavable. that's when i have to say."

He's being cute here, but the message is clear. You are not so special that I wouldn't depart. It's unbelievable that you'd think that you'd be worth more than the f***.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Bron-Y-Aur Stomp
Led Zeppelin
This is about bronies. They communicate by stomping.

Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
