In regards to the meaning of this song:
Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.”
That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
It took two days
For me to figure out
This isn't working out
But I lost my way
I drove all night
Just to be with you
But you weren't worth the view
I gotta hit the brakes
Now you know, get up and go
Arizona, Arizona
A car wreck on the highway
Now you're burning by the side of the road
Arizona, Arizona
Is a million miles from Florida
Now you're history
I'm stranded, get me out, I'm going home
Deep in your soul
Lies a lonely heart
That only ever pumps
For you alone
And I can't relate
So I gotta leave you here
I can breathe without you, dear
Just start walking away
Now you know, get up and go
Arizona, Arizona
A car wreck on the highway
Now you're burning by the side of the road
Arizona, Arizona
Is a million miles from Florida
Now you're history
I'm stranded, get me out, I'm going home
Tell me, how does that feel
With the Grand Canyon between me and you
Tell me, how does that feel to see me waving goodbye
Took two days
For me to figure out
This isn't working out
I gotta hit the brakes
Arizona, Arizona
A car wreck on the highway
Now you're burning by the side of the road

Magical
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
Head > Heels

“Head > Heels” is a track that aims to capture what it feels like to experience romance that exceeds expectations. Ed Sheeran dedicates his album outro to a lover who has blessed him with a unique experience that he seeks to describe through the song’s nuanced lyrics.
Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
it can be a literal - long distance relationship or there is a DISTANCE, growing between them......she tried her all, and found..he's not worth it
Obvious meaning, especially since we know this band is from Florida. She, or someone in the band, loves someone who lived in Arizona, but then realized pursuing a long distance with them wasn't worth it, because they, themselves, turned out to not be worth it.
Great, catchy song. I had a long distance boyfriend who lived in California while I was still in the Midwest, and the "how does that feel with the Grand Cranyon between me and you?" line used to get me everytime.
Cassadee had a relationship with David Blaise (who is from Arizona), that ended.
okay, so i live in arizona, and i've seen them twice[not really willingly, they were warming up for other bands] and both times, they neglected to play this song, which i, quite frankly, is very dumb. if the song is called Arizona, you should play it in Arizona. stupid. its a catchy song, well, all of their songs are catchy, but i think its too poppy and none of their lyrics are really real. its like when they write songs, there isn't any real meaning behind it.
as for this song, its pretty obvious what its about. she lives in florida, and some guy or person she cares about lives in arizona, so she drives to see them. then she realizes its a big waste of time and that the long distance really blows and isnt working out.
Listen to the lyrics...

Arizona Arizona
A Car Wreck On A Highway
Now You're Burning
By The Side Of The Road
Arizona Arizona
Is A Million Miles From Florida
Now You're History
I'm Stranded, Get Me Out, I'm Going Home...

The name Arizona is the name of the car! They're saying
they're stranded and they are a million miles from Florida...
It's obvious as hell, they are coming back from somewhere, the
car breaks down or they have a bingle and it's burning by the side
of the road and all they wanna do is get home...

I'm with caiti all over

Tell me, how does that feel
With the Grand Canyon
Between me and you?
Tell me, how does that feel
To see me waving goodbye?

It took two days
For me to figure out
This isn't working out
I gotta hit the brakes

Don't it take it literal, I doubt she's singing about a car
I'm almost positive this is about a long distance relationship. With David Blaise. ;)
they're awesome! love this song. music rocks.
amazing. <3
heres my take at the song: so i think that this song is about a girl (probably cassadee) who met a boy who lives in arizona and she really thought that she liked him and had a lot of feelings for him. she decided to drive out to go see him, but then when she got there, she realized he wasn't anything that she thought he was, which completely bummed her out. the thing though that makes me think it may be about a long distance relationship though is the part that says "Tell me, how does that feel With the Grand Canyon Between me and you?"
i absolutely adore this song! the girl's voice is AMAZING!
I think this is suppose to be about a literal distance between two people, a long distance relationship. It makes sense because Cassadee is from Florida. It's basically her telling a guy (who she probably wasn't with for very long or only saw a couple of times) that he's just not who she thought he was in the beginning. Maybe he ended up being with another girl or he was mean in the end, but the song is fairly easy to figure out, which is what I like about HM's music. It's simple, it makes sense, and it's not cryptic or ridiculous. Love this song so much.
Yay! first post!
