Going back to the corner where I first saw you
Gonna camp in my sleeping bag, I'm not gonna move
Got some words on cardboard, got your picture in my hand
Saying, "If you see this girl, can you tell her where I am?"
Some try to hand me money, they don't understand
I'm not broke, I'm just a broken hearted man
I know it makes no sense but what else can I do
How can I move on when I'm still in love with you

'Cause if one day you wake up and find that you're missing me
And your heart starts to wonder where on this Earth I could be
Thinkin' maybe you'll come back here to the place that we'd meet
And you'll see me waiting for you on our corner of the street
So I'm not moving, I'm not moving

Policeman says, "Son, you can't stay here"
I said, "There's someone I'm waiting for if it's a day, a month, a year"
Gotta stand my ground even if it rains or snows
If she changes her mind, this is the first place she will go

'Cause if one day you wake up and find that you're missing me
And your heart starts to wonder where on this Earth I could be
Thinking maybe you'll come back here to the place that we'd meet
And you'll see me waiting for you on our corner of the street
So I'm not moving, I'm not moving
I'm not moving, I'm not moving

People talk about the guy that's waiting on a girl
There are no holes in his shoes but a big hole in his world

Maybe I'll get famous as the man who can't be moved
Maybe you won't mean to, but you'll see me on the news
And you'll come running to the corner
'Cause you'll know it's just for you
I'm the man who can't be moved
I'm the man who can't be moved

'Cause if one day you wake up and find that you're missing me (find that you're missing me)
And your heart starts to wonder where on this Earth I could be (where on this Earth I could be)
Thinkin' maybe you'll come back here to the place that we'd meet (to the place that we'd meet)
And you'll see me waiting for you on our corner of the street

(So I'm not moving) 'cause if one day you wake up and find that you're missing me
(I'm not moving) and your heart starts to wonder where on this Earth I could be
(I'm not moving) thinkin' maybe you'll come back here to the place that we'd meet
(I'm not moving) and you'll see me waiting for you on our corner of the street

Going back to the corner where I first saw you
Gonna camp in my sleeping bag, I'm not gonna move

I know some people might not agree with me, but whenever I listen to these lyrics, and especially when I watch the film clip, this song means to me about the feeling you get after your true love leaves you or breaks up with you.

The lyrics saying that "IF one day you wake and find that your missing me....MAYBE you'll come back to the place where we'd meet...So I'm not moving." show me that he's desperately wishing she'd come back. He's hoping she'll be back so he's is grasping for straws and hoping for anything.

IF and MAYBE show that he's just trying to have faith in something that won't happen.

    My Interpretation

When I first listened to this song, this is what came to my mind. A boy who's been in love with his best friend forever. Like he loves her and he will wait for her to realize they're perfect together. He loves her so much he doesn't mind how long it takes her to love him back. That's my opinion, but it may be 'cause something similar is happening to me. He tells me that everytime.

I absolutely love this song, the lyrics "If she changes her mind this is the first place she will go" is the bit that chokes me up. I love the story that this man is so willing to get this woman back that he'll wait for her "if it's a day, a month, a year" because he doesn't know where she is to find her himself, he thinks if she wants him back, she'll know where to go. It's absoultely beautiful. :)

alright I think I know exactly what he is saying...

I'm actually going through a similar experience at this very moment..

What he means is that he's been in love with this girl forever and she doesn't see him in that way. He's going to wait for her, however long it takes because he's in love with her and he refuses to stop.

This song is pretty amazing, even though I'm not that much a fan of the band. Describes how i've felt for the last 4 months!

in this song a person is going crazy in love having a fresh love.. it could be second chance a person asking for but i would prefer when a person is telling her that he gonna be there no matter what happen , ow many pain and how many disaster goes on..how many heartbreak are going to be there he'll be there no matter what other thinks.. maybe one day she'll realize he the one.. <3 i love this song that i could cry..

This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
