"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him.
There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.
It's poetry carved in flesh
This beautiful hell of ours
To the deadliest sin we confess
(Tears of joy fill our eyes)
We are safe where disfigured saints
Cry out their prophecies of doom
My heart's a graveyard, baby
And to evil we make love
On our passion's killing floor
In my arms, you won't sleep safely
And of lust we are reborn
On our passion's killing floor
At the first kiss
the seeds of hatred are sown
Back into darkness we flee
(To tear our hearts out)
We are saved where all faiths fail
Alive inside of our tomb
My heart's a graveyard, baby
And to evil we make love
On our passion's killing floor
In my arms, you won't sleep safely
And of lust we are reborn
On our passion's killing floor
My heart's a graveyard, baby
And to evil we make love
On our passion's killing floor
In my arms, you won't sleep safely
And of lust we are reborn
On our passion's killing floor
(My heart's a graveyard, baby)
My heart's a graveyard, baby
On our passion's killing floor
(In my arms, you won't sleep safely)
And to evil we make love
On our passion's killing floor
Forever more

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines:
"Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet"
So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other:
"I had all and then most of you"
Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart
"Some and now none of you"
Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship.
This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve.
The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future.
Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere"
The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Plastic Bag

Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it.
“I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
i just got Venus Doom and here are the real lyrics

Yep, this is correct. I was about to correct this person if someone else didn't, haha. XD Suuuuuch a good song.
This song is pretty sweet, love the new sound of the band.
I can't make a proper review of the song yet, because I only just heard, so I don't really know the lyrics. Lol. ^^;
I think that maybe instead of "the seas of hatred are sewn" it should be "the seeds of hatred are sewn"
Neat stuff!! I've pre-ordered at my local music supplier!
i agree with savage dash 8
this was also included in the soundtrack for the new transformers movie
Is this a transformers exclusive or is it on the new album thats coming out in september?
btw, you can listen to it here: esnips.com/doc/e5914938-ce38-4650-94c1-aad74375e6ed/HIM---Passions-Killing-Floor
transformers.... micheal bay's movie
The disc will feature a total of 12 tracks, nine of which are brand new and exclusive to the soundtrack:
also, “Passion’s Killing Floor” comes off H.I.M.’s forthcoming album, “Venus Doom”, due in North America on September 18
Love the band's sound. Ville's lyrics just get better and better with every album. Although from what I hear, there's only like 5 seconds of the song played in the Transformers movie so that kinda sucks. But it's still good to hear them in an American film. Anyone know of a place to hear more bits of the new album? Lol.
im a long time HIM fan, but i dont really like this new sound on this track.. ah well, hopefully the album will be great :-)
I like this song...with every new album a band produces peeople either like it or they don't. Regardless of that, bands go through growth in their music...HIM by the sounds of this song are still the same yet you can tell there's growth in there too if you've been a dedicated listener from the start. Ville's voice has gone less husky or raspy I've noticed..there 's a smooth melody..when getting to the bridge there's that dark gothic undertone...is that him? hmm... Can't wait for the album to come out....! =D
Hmm..I think this song is anythign but about pure love for sure...I think it's about love betwen two people thats sinful or forbidden and based more upon lust and attraction rather than feelings...reminds me of people cheating....
or by listening to the chorus it could be about a person whose warning their lover not to except anything good from them...their relationship together will only bring them danger and no security.
I love this song because i find it more sounds like the love metal era and it still sounds like HIM i had some doubts about the album cause of Dark Light ( I mean it was good but it jsut didnt sounded really like HIM to me) and now thoose are all gone
I totally agree with Dreamdisease, you definately sound like a dedicated fan. I've been listening to HIM since 2000 and you can definately see the change in Valo's voice over the years. I also agree that this song sound as someone tasting forbidden fruit without having any regrets. Valo said the new album is going to be more harder then anything they've done in the past so i'm excited to see what the new sounds gonna be! Personally I think HIM fans have NOTHING to worry about because honestly whens the last time this band put out an album you didnt ewnd of falling in love with??
