Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve.
The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future.
Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere"
The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

In only six years
If it was an accident
Where are the tears
I am still unidentified
Behind the Cathedral
Is where my body hides
But I'm not inside
Just one of six-teen
In early one day
If it was a game then
Why couldn't I play
I am the abandoner
But still I remain
As my frozen pulse quickness
As the black plot thickens
like the story I heard
A lifetime ago
Where a girl
And this is funny
Took her life
And what she doesn't know
Is how long it takes
For the water to rise
And the breath to stop fighting
And the cold to close her eyes
Morality plays
On stages of sin
The easy way out
Or the easy way in
I am still overglorified
My reasons to live
Were my reasons to die
But at least they were mine
Now I'm freedom unbound
Cut the laces of life
The pistol
The poison
The noose
Or the knife
I have chosen my instrument
And said no goodbyes
As my frozen pulse quickens
As the black plot thickens
Like the story I heard
A lifetime ago
Where a girl
And this is funny
Took her life

@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

306 would be, by my guess, how many suicides occured in the 6 years. There were 16 suicides that occured in one day, and "she" was one of them.
Okay so I know that she likes history, does this maybe refer to anything in the past?
Yes. This is about the Seine River. "The river was a popular site for suicides and the disposal of bodies of murder victims.[20] In 2007, 55 bodies were retrieved from its waters; in February 2008, the body of supermodel-turned-activist Katoucha Niane was found there.[20] In the late 1700s and early 1800s over the space of six years 306 bodies were retrieved, the highest number in one day being 16. They were kept in the morgue for many years, and some were never identified."
It's about L'Inconnue de la Seine. "the body of the young woman was pulled out of the Seine River at the Quai du Louvre in Paris around the late 1880s. The body showed no signs of violence, and suicide was suspected." She was found in the Seine River in six years when they found a total of 306 bodies. (Got the stuff in speech off Wikipedia.)
actually, EA stated in an interview that this song has nothing to do with Hamlet. Hope that helps.
306 suicides in 6 years
16 suicides in 1 day thats what it means
WZ i love your vid for tis song on YOUTUBE
i think the 1 in 16 part of the song stands for, one of the bodies they found out of the 16 was like smiling or something like that. that's what i heard.
Yes that is specifically what the song says but the story behind the song is about the Seine river. The pistol The poison The noose Or the knife
so scary when she sings that sends chills down my spine
here goes my weird interpretation(sorry for my bad english >_maybe her body was found by someone, but no-one knew who she was, so she was buried behind the cathedral like a christian. She is not inside because her soul is not inside because she was a sinner.
"I am the abandoner But still I remain"-> she abandoned life, but her soul is still on earth then there is the part with the girl that took her life->she sais that it's not easy to die, you suffer before you completely die "Morality plays On stages of sin The easy way out Or the easy way in"-> the way to beeing a sinner? "I am still overglorified"-> no one knew she was a killer, and she looked just like a normal person? "My reasons to live Were my reasons to die"-> her reason to live was to kill, which is also her reason to die because she knows it's not wright what she is doing and could only stop if she died.
p.s.: to ImaMisfitfiend: Vlad the Impaler was not a murderer...he impaled people because of war, and it was not such an uncommon habbit for that time.
The lyrics of the song are simple and straight forward, they're easily understood. The meaning behind the song is history. Not hard to understand either. "The river was a popular site for suicides and the disposal of bodies of murder victims.[20] In 2007, 55 bodies were retrieved from its waters; in February 2008, the body of supermodel-turned-activist Katoucha Niane was found there.[20] In the late 1700s and early 1800s over the space of six years 306 bodies were retrieved, the highest number in one day being 16. 1 in 16... group suicide...?
It sounds like that o.O

306 suicides in 6 years. 16 in one day, one of which was the girl to which the song is about.
Other than that, the song is pretty straight forward. My favorite part is the Cut the laces of life bit. It's so haunting.
It's history. The Seine river. To me it sounds like a cult thing.... like, the cult sucks you in a destroys you and then you commit suicide which is the 306 and the 16 the part about the water and how long it takes to drown is how she chose to kill herself and she's still unidentified behind the cathedral because the people in the cult were with her when she did it, and then they brought her body back and dumped it there and perhaps she was really popular in the cult, which is why she says she's overglorified and maybe she had reasons other than the cult to kill herself, but she did it with a group of kids from the cult, which is the part about how at least her reasons were hers

If it was an accident Where are the tears?
{I think this means that the death was declared an accident..possibly an accidental drowning, even if it was actually a suicide. )
I am still unidentified Behind the cathedral Is where my body hides But I'm not inside
(and this would be the reason it was declared an accident. b/c in the catholic church, she wouldn't be allowed to be buried behind the cathedral if she committed suicide...by declaring it an accident, she can be buried in the graveyard there...avoiding all the "Family shame" and whatnot associated with suicide... )
