I'm thinking that its time to get out
My patients are fading fast
The mind bruises just a little bit easier
In dark times and shadows cast

What are you suffering for?
Your pride or some kind of personal war?
And will you throw it all away?
For nothing more than a simple taste?

I'll stay in time and watch you pass by
(Paranoia woven deep beneath my skin)
I draw this line and hope you'll take my side (breathe slow, breathe slow)
You shouldn't have to fight alone
(You shouldn't have to fight at all)
It's nobody's battle but your own

Panic holds me like a gun
Firm and steadfast bleak and cold
I think it's time to kill the drama
This lifestyle's getting old

Whispers behind closed doors
Eyes spy from dark windows
Plotting minds seek to harm me
Or maybe not, I don't really know

There is
Something
Waiting
For me
In the
Darkest
Part of
My imagination

I'll stay in time and watch you pass by
(Paranoia woven deep beneath my skin)
I draw this line and hope you'll take my side (breathe slow, breathe slow)
You shouldn't have to fight alone
(You shouldn't have to fight at all)
It's nobody's battle but your own

This is just self-induced terror
There's more to come
This is just a glimpse
I tell myself it's all in my head
But I'm pretty hard to convince

Oh, there's no relief
Oh, this world can offer
Oh, there's no relief
Oh, this world can offer me

I stay in time and watch you pass by
I draw this line and hope you'll take my side
You shouldn't have to fight alone
It's nobody's battle but your own

it seems like the song is about drug addiction. The verses are a first hand account of what someone may go through while fighting addiction, while the chorus seems like a close friend trying to stop his drug use. Dallas is playing the role of the supportive friend, and george is playing the role of the addict. Dallas is telling him that 'he shouldn't have to fight alone', and georges rebuttal is 'you shouldn't have to fight at all (i think by saying this he means, "why are you fighting to help me, i don't have a problem".' It seems like He is being told he needs help, but he's denying it.

i could be completely wrong, but this is the message i'm getting from the song.

    A few corrections/I hear differently:

    My pictures are fading fast

(You shouldn't have to fight at all) It's nobody's battle but your own

    Whispers behind closed doors

There is Something Waiting For me In the Darkest Part of My imagination

This is all so There is more to come this is just a glimpse ____ in my head

All in all, good job. I can't get this song outta my head.

i think its telling a friend to stop being so dramatic and realize you could end whatever struggle (maybe love maybe abuse family etc.) easy but you want to make it seem like you can handle it and get to say you suffered through it.

I'm thinking that its time to get out My patients are fading fast The mind bruises just a little bit easier In dark times and shadows cast

thats the friend. saying these things as complaints self explanatory.

What are you suffering for? Your pride or some kind of personal war? and will you throw it all away? For nothing more than a simple taste? I stay in time and watch you pass by Paranoia woven deep beneath my skin and i draw this line Breath slow You shouldn't have to fight alone (screaming as friend) You shouldn't have to fight at all (back to him) it's nobody's battle but your own

he's saying that it could end "what are you suffering for" is almost "are you stupid? end this already" "your pride or some kind of personal war" is "so you can tell peopl you're tough or so you can just tell yourself?" "and will you throw it away for nothing more than a simple taste" is like "you're gonna move on to another fucked up obsession thats gonna mess up your life cuz 'simple tastes' tear apart families and you moving on to something else can't save you" "i stay in time and watch you pass by" is "i'll stay here and be here for you even though i think you're ruining your life" "paranoia woven deep beneath my skin" "blah blah blah bullshit drama" from the friend "I'll draw this line and hope you'll take my side (breathe slow, breathe slow)" is kinda "i'll wait for you to realize you're killing yourself" and the friend says breathe slow as if he/she was saying "don't make assumptions or jump ahead of everything let me handle it now" "You shouldn't have to fight alone" "i really am here for you" "You shouldn't have to fight at all" friend says " you shouldnt be here for me i can do it myself" "it's nobody's battle but your own" he says "fine whatever its yours"

    rest is self explanatory.

    For this part:

(your ... will only take beneath my skin)

I think I hear "Paranoia will be deep beneath my skin"

And also, I think it really is You shouldn't have to fight alone (you shouldn't have to fight at all)

And to back up my oppinion, think about it.

Paranoia will be deep beneath my skin. Breath slow....breathe slow...

He's freaking out and trying to calm himself, then tells himself

You shouldn't have to fight at all.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
