Conquer your world
Study you quietly
Count the ways
I'll do anything you say
There will be no holding back
Legions of me

So cruel
Longing eternally
Bitter sweet possibilities
A tiger on the attack
Ready to bleed

Tragically yours
Obey and submit to me
I will find you
Wherever you hide
Got a thrill for the hunt
A skilled criminal mind

So calm
Tracking your every move
Unrelenting my conscious clear
Beyond a shadow of doubt
A force to be feared

Wretched and pure
Tricky and dangerous
Do not question
Or challenge your fate
A promise written in blood
Take life for pay

Yours is not to ask why
Yours is to do and die
Professional killer

I love their lyrics! but i didn't really like the voice until i got used to it, it's the same issue with a lot of their songs.

Lucia does some amazing vocals on this song, and the song itself is fucking amazing.

This song is about the military people following politicians.

And lets not talk about how good the songs are we obviously think it's a good song if we're going to discuss the meaning of the lyrics. Professional Killer's about an executioner.

The song uses a sample from an execution playing in the background but that doesn't make it the theme.

The song is about exactly what the titles says a professional killer/hitman. This person studies their targets probably in a stalker-like manor.

Jenovasson and Cool Coz are both right. That's the point of the song: that it seems like it's talking about an executioner AND it seems like it's talking about a hitman. This song is denouncing the practice of capital punishment by casting the executioner in a comparable light to a hitman, thus showing the incredibly thin, grey line we walk when we appoint somebody to pull the plug on another person because we don't like them or what they've done. The fact that the subject of the song (a hitman or an executioner) is indistinct is supposed to be a reflection on the indistinct nature of supposed distinctions between the two. To better illustrate the point, allow me to offer this: The MacManus brothers from Boondock Saints -- are they executioners or hitmen?

I'm not so sure about the military following politicians. I mean, that's certainly a message that one could see KMFDM attempting to portray in a song, I just don't see where it comes into this. Actually, I don't see any reference to politicians specifically at all here.

    My Interpretation

I know it's about a killer but to me i relate to it in how I pursue and create art. "Conquer your world Study you quietly Count the ways I'll do anything you say There will be no holding back"

This is sorta how I look at other artists I respect. Studying them quietly from a far with a lot of both hate and respect. I hate that they can make the shit they do, and it does feel like I'm an animal trying to attack them by studying them and trying to be better. Like fuck you, I'm going to be better than you in 6 months. Of course it always took longer to learn shit when I was younger but now I feel like I'm a hyena on the prowl and with the health risks doing art poses it is starting to feel like a risky thing...even though I'm still young.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
