What could you possibly see in me
is my soul hung out to dry
I think my dysfunctional family
has shaped it throughout my life

what could you possibly like in me
do you like my ability to bend
I think my fear of intimacy
has shaped the time we spend

its not you
its me
its not us
its them
and its not her
its just the way she moves you
and she kisses harder than me
well she kisses harder than me

And I've always looked in through your glasses
but all i could see
is the spector of me reflected
the empty shell of me(x2)

what could you possibly love in me
is it the way i wear my smile
it hangs from the tip of my tonge you see
oh this might take a while

and its not you its me
and its not us, its them
and its not her its just the way she moves you
and she kisses harder than me
well she kisses harder than me

And I've always looked in through your glasses
but all i could see
is the spector of me reflected
the empty shell of me(x2)

And I've always looked in through your glasses
but all i could see
is the spector of me reflected
the empty shell of me(x2)

And I've always looked in through your glasses
but all i could see
is the spector of me reflected
the empty shell of me(x2)

It's about not being confident enough in yourself and always wondering why someone's into you. The person she's singing for is always wondering if the guy she's singing to will leave her because she finds herself inferior to other chicks.

she has a brilliant voice. i actually perfer her voice to Alanis Morisette, or Liz Phair which has much much more press than her.

I agree, it's my favourite song at the moment. I absolutely love it. It's about a guy, obviously, don't know who dumps who in this song though...

I agree with guitarfreak on the meaning. This is my favorite Maria Mena song, actually. I love the music itself, her voice, as always, and also because I've got a fetish for glasses and at first listen I was just amused at the fact she tried looking through the guy's glasses to see how he sees her. It's a very clever way to put it.

I think that she's talking about how she's surprised that anyone could love her so much because she just sees herself as being inadequate in every way. Her significant other wears glasses, and she puts them on to see if she looks any more beautiful through them. But all she sees is her same, unsatisfying self. Pretty depressing, really.

this song is phenomenal, it is about a lack of self confidence. she believes she is nothing in the mans eyes when she is probably everything. she is insecure about his past relationships and if she is good enough for this man.

I love how Maria Mena writes about these kinds of feelings with such understanding.

When I was younger I remember putting on my grandads glasses to see how I'd look through them, he always told me I was beautiful, but I never felt it.

All her songs are incredibly relateable, but this one defnitely captures how I feel about myself; which is wondering how anyone could even like me, let alone more.

This song has such a powerful message to it - M.M is an amazing song writer and has an amazing voice to sing them with :) xxxx

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
