Push me right over
And hold me down under the waves
If I'm out breath maybe
I'll recognise my mistakes
Coz nothing I've done yeah
Is worthy of showing to you
It's just meaningless bullshit
And promises all there to you

Coz I need
Somewhere
To begin
Somebody gotta let me in

Colour me with red and gold
Your sweet love has blessed my soul
Colour me with red and gold
Come bless my soul

Well I left the thunder
And rain of my past all behind
When I'm looking back there's
A shadow that falls over my time
Coz nobody knows just
What happened to me there in Spain
Life has turned me right over
And left me to be ever changed

I need
Somewhere
To begin
Somebody gotta let me in

Colour me with red and gold
Your sweet love has blessed my soul
Colour me with red and gold
Come bless my soul

Won't you come back and bless
Won't you come back and bless
Won't you come back and bless
(oh love bless my soul)
Your sweet love
(oh love bless my soul)
Won't you come back and bless
(oh love bless my soul)
Come back and bless
(oh love bless my soul)
Won't you come back and bless
(oh love bless my soul)

strange no one has really gone in depth about powder-fingers songs, prob cause they are australian. Anyway this would have to be my fav song of there, msg in it clear and simple, dude been stuck in a rut, stuck doing something he hated but now it's finally over and even though he might have nothing left (prayed all my past behind) he looks to a new beginning where he has a clearer mind and through a strong relationship he can get back on track (your sweet love has blessed my soul). I guess it might be a little like pearl jams cordoroy song with the same meaning as 'i'll end up alone like I began' but with a more optomistic/uplifting tone placed in this song

i think first line is pull me down under the waves, mathes the vid clip to

    Those lyrics are really wrong.

Correct lyrics (from hindleysite.com): Push me right over and hold me down under the wave If I'm out of breath maybe I'll recognise my mistakes 'Cause nothing I've done yet is worthy of showing to you Its just meaningless bullshit; the promises I'll pedal you

I need somewhere to begin Somebody gotta let me in Colour me with red and gold Your sweet love will bless my soul Colour me with red and gold Come bless my soul

I left the thunder and rain of my past all behind When I'm looking back there's a shadow that falls over my time 'Cause nobody knows just what happened to me there in Spain That place took me right over and left me to be ever changed

I need somewhere to begin Somebody gotta let me in Colour me with red and gold Your sweet love will bless my soul Colour me with red and gold Come bless my soul

..wont you come and bless wont you come back and bless my soul With your sweet love...

    Let's put the pieces together...

We know that: a) Bernard (lead singer) married a Spanish lady approx. 2 years after the release of this song. b) He also saw the end of a 12 year relationship around the same time. c) He recently married a Spanish lady.

"Nobody knows just what happened to me there in Spain." No, Bernard, but we can surely hazard a guess!

What if you discovered someone special there and in so doing awoke to the fact that your existing relationship was dead in the water? Maybe you cheated. That would explain songs like Thrill is Gone (artist: Bernard Fanning) where you wrote lyrics like

"Sure was a hell of a mistake I made But I sure am glad that I made it No way for a grown man to behave More the act of a teen opportunist I stand accused of losing my head"

    and

"I can sense trouble just around the bend And it's all been my kind of making I can't carry on with all this pretence When it's clear that my love has been fading I stand accused of the things I said"

    and

"It's not so much that the thrill is gone Just a cleaner, sweeter, brighter thrill has come along".

All right, we've got the idea. Bless My Soul wasn't some random Powderfinger song, but one of the most meaningful you've ever written.

I always thought it was "Its just meaningless bullshit that promises all better view" that always made more sense to me.

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
