In regards to the meaning of this song:
Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.”
That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
You make me come
You make me complete
You make me completely miserable
Stuck to a chair
Watchin' this story about me
Everything goes
By so fast making my head spin
Used up all of my friends
Who needs them, when you mean everything
I love the things that we should fear
I'm not afraid of being here
So much the same
It makes me helpless
Alone
Nothing to share
Why should I care if your near me
Give up all of my plans
But who needs them, when you mean everything
I love the things that we should fear
I'm not afraid of being here
So much the same
You make me helpless
Alone
Yeah, yeah..
You make me come
Yeah, yeah..
You make me complete
Yeah, yeah..
You make me completely miserable
I love the things that we should fear
I'm not afraid of being here
So much the same
It makes me helpless
Alone
You make me come
You make me complete
You make me completely miserable
Yeah, yeah..
You make me come
Yeah, yeah..
You make me complete
Yeah, yeah..
You make me completely miserable
You make me complete
You make me completely miserable
Stuck to a chair

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
Magical
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it.
“I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
i think its kinda like the progression of the relationship 'you make me cum'- the whole sexual/intimate part of it 'you make me complete'- the attachment perfect part 'you make me completely miserable' when he/she dumps you and your like, but i still love you.....
but then again mestup brings an interesting point
This song always makes me laugh... no matter how many times I hear it. It's definately my favourite Lit song.
i think its about a guy who was with this girl and at first it was nothing and then it was something and then he ended up broken hearted.. like "you make me come" (think sexually) "you make me COMPLETE"(like he thinks this girl is something to him " you make me completely miserable" ( like after all that she broke his heart) just a thought..
i really like this song. specially the guitar. lit is underrated.
i always thought it was "you make me come"
hanna 182, you are stupid. do you think you're cool because you don't know how to type? Your comment made me want to gag, it would have been worth reading except for the fact that i spent twice as long reading it just to figure out just what the fu*$ you even said. Don't try to sound cool by typing like a douch, it just makes you a highly unconfident and shallow person. poser. Great song tho, it describes just about evey relationship. we are all somewhat massocistic in the way that we fall in love with someone and hold them so close to our hearts that when they begin to fester and hurt us, we still don't want to let go. You make me come you make me complete you make me completely miserable
Okay, no. That's not how I see it at all. It reminds me of the relationship I'm in right now. Where everything is going great, sexually- we both love each other- BUT WE ARE ALWAYS FUCKING TOGETHER. we give up our plans and friends to see each other everyday-and to tell you the truth, usually, on the day we give up the plans, we are miserable. So, I feel like the girl is saying, "oh come on, lets hang out today-you can see them whenever" and she never gives him the chance, so he's always giving up his friends and free time to be with her, and it's starting to grate on his nerves.
Rather than a relationship's progression, I see this song as the musings of someone who is feeling a sort of unrequited love for a person who they are probably close to (i.e., "just friends"). When 'they make him come,' it's possible that he's masturbating to them. 'You make me complete,' of course, tells of his love for the person, and 'you make me completely miserable' shows that, yes, it is unrequited, and so it makes him miserable at the same time.
"you make me cum" lol i have no life either
man, i almost completely forgot about this song. it describes pretty much every relationship i've ever had. i think it's about being in a relationship that just isn't working no matter how much you love that other person. all you want to do is be with that one person but the relationship itself is making you miserable
ha it does the same for me
