"Country Roads" as written by John Denver, John Denver, Bill Danoff and Taffy Nivert....
Take me home, country roads
Almost heaven, West Virginia,
Blue ridge mountain, Shenandoah river,
Life is old there, older than the trees,
Younger than the mountains, blowing like a breeze

Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong,
West Virginia,
Mountain mamma,take me home
Country roads

All my memories, gather round her
Modest lady, stranger to blue water
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky
Misty taste of moonshine, teardrop in my eye

Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong,
West Virginia,
Mountain mamma, take me home
To the country roads

I hear her voice in the morning hour she calls me
Radio reminds me of my home far away
Driving down the road I get a feeling
That I should have been home yesterday, yesterday

Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong,
West virginia,
Mountain mamma, take me home
Country roads

Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong,
West Virginia,
Mountain mamma, take me home
To the country roads

Take me home, that country road
Take me home, that country road

General CommentBeautifull song. i always dream away in my thoughts when i lissen to this song. btw for the people who can't get enough of it check out the cover of christiaan mauer. he's a street artist in my country (the netherlands) and one day a random person filmd him playing country roads. and the video went viral in my country. if you love this song you should really check it out. you wont regret it. even in my opinion he plays/sings it better. ofcourse a cover can never be as good as a originel in my opinion. because wrighting it is way harder then make a perfect cover. but the voice on that man make's te song even more beautifull

General CommentHow can I be the first person to read this and comment on it? John Denver wrote and sang some of the best music ever recorded, and this song is one of his greatest achievements. A great song to listen to at night on the way home from driving across the country. It almost puts tears in my eyes with the beauty end eloquence of its words and the love with which it is sung. I may be crazy, but I love it.

General Commenti'd never heard this song until i moved to west virginia. but i learned to love it.

and when john denver wrote it, i'm sure he never imagined that at every bar in morgantown wv, at the stroke of midnight, thousands of drunk college kids would be screaming the lyrics at the of of their lungs.

    gotta love wvu.

General CommentMan, I hate the idea that thousands of drunk college kids scream this song as some sort of lame ritual. I think it's a song that has a lot of feeling behind it. It's a beautiful song.

A lot of people tend to think of John Denver as being dorky and cliche, but I love him; he was an amazing songwriter.

General CommentLame rituals are what college is all about. Don't knock it until you try it.

P.S. I loved the song long before I was a student at WVU. I love it more now.
