Take Me Home, Country Roads Lyrics

Almost heaven, West Virginia
Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River
Life is old there, older than the trees, younger than the mountains,
growin' like a breeze

Country Roads, take me home
to the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads

All my memories,
gather 'round her
Miner's lady, stranger to blue water
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky,
Misty taste of moonshine, teardrop in my eye

Country Roads, take me home
to the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, Country Roads

I hear her voice, in the mornin' hours she calls me
The radio reminds me of my home far away
And drivin' down the road I get a feelin' I should have been home yesterday, yesterday

Country Roads, take me home, Country Roads

How can I be the first person to read this and comment on it? John Denver wrote and sang some of the best music ever recorded, and this song is one of his greatest achievements. A great song to listen to at night on the way home from driving across the country. It almost puts tears in my eyes with the beauty end eloquence of its words and the love with which it is sung. I may be crazy, but I love it.

Man, I hate the idea that thousands of drunk college kids scream this song as some sort of lame ritual. I think it's a song that has a lot of feeling behind it. It's a beautiful song.

A lot of people tend to think of John Denver as being dorky and cliche, but I love him; he was an amazing songwriter.

Beautifull song. i always dream away in my thoughts when i lissen to this song. btw for the people who can't get enough of it check out the cover of christiaan mauer. he's a street artist in my country (the netherlands) and one day a random person filmd him playing country roads. and the video went viral in my country. if you love this song you should really check it out. you wont regret it. even in my opinion he plays/sings it better. ofcourse a cover can never be as good as a originel in my opinion. because wrighting it is way harder then make a perfect cover. but the voice on that man make's te song even more beautifull
