The Corrs – Irresistible Lyrics

I think it's about both love and sex.
She (the protagonist) wants both.
And when sex and true love are together it's fantastic ("It can take you places like never before"). |

@[s4v4nn4h1:35183] I wonder whether the line is:
'She says "It's all gonna end and it might as well be my fault." ' (meaning she's blaming herself) or;
'She says "It's all gonna end" and it might as well be my fault' (meaning Rob is blaming himself) or
'She says it's all gonna end and it might as well be my fault' (meaning she's blaming Rob)
Any of those interpretations could work. |

Everclear – Santa Monica Lyrics

@[Applo:34910] Your comments make a lot of sense. What I like about this song is how its intro gets right down to business. The lead line "I am still living with your ghost" lets us know right away that this is not a happy song. |

@[mlissadarling:34909] The strange thing is, when you wrote your, I was a 25-year old and was involved with a guy from Southern California. He wanted me to move with him to Santa Monica. but I didn't want to. He was the one who wanted to give 100% to the relationship, but, ya, I was the one who wanted to play the field. |

@[julian1010:30447] I know I posted this question 7.5 years ago and you answered it 4 years ago, but thanes. I've since seen Wilco in concert and I could've sworn I'd heard an Uncle Tupelo song in their set. |

@[regb:29525] Too bad it's been used in TV commercials. I guess when The Who came out with an album called "The Who Sell Out" they might've known that one day they'd actually do it. |

Wang Chung – Dance Hall Days Lyrics

@[dergrimnebulin:28220] I was wondering if someone was going to mention "Lolita" by Vladimir Nabakov.
"Dance Hall Days" isn't the only 1980s song that is based on "Lolita". The Police's "Don't Stand So Close To Me" is the other one. |

Dave Mason – We Just Disagree Lyrics

This almost was my and my husband's song. We had a falling out (although it was not a case of infidelity) and we were living apart for almost a year.
We did reconcile and we've gotten things back on track, but for awhile there the stanza "There ain't no good guy/There ain't no bad guy/There's only you and me and we just disagree" really hit home. |

@[Wrapid:22895] I didn't grow up on The Cars (I was born in the late 70s, but I do like their music. From what I've seen of the concert films, Ben was the far better singer and had better stage presence than Ric did. |

@[stryker311:18014] Especially now, 12 years after your comment. Early Coldplay was great ("The Scientist", "Clocks", "Speed of Sound", "Yellow") but ow they seem to have de-evolved into dance-pop junk. |

@[flyingdaitchman:18013] I know. Didn't they merely change every third note? I never learned to play "Clocks" (I was in a band at the time), but the band did play "Speed of Sound". I loved playing my bass on the song. |

@[Emo_ezralite:17379] The lines "Every day's much better since I've slowed my drinking pace/There's no swimming in the bottle it's just someplace we all drown" made me at first think it was a Doug Hopkins song. |

@[hellfirecan:16919]
"Dr. Mario...weird game to refer too but anyway"
Probably a reference to "Mario Brothers" but it's likely that he couldn't get the rights from Nintendo to use the name.
Just like the Kinks with their song "Lola". They had to change the line "Where you drink champagne and it tastes just like Coca- Cola" to "Where you drink champagne and it tastes just like cherry cola." |
