Them Crooked Vultures – Mind Eraser, No Chaser Lyrics | 14 years ago |
And likewise, "understand" should be "understanding"...geez, they need an edit button here. |
Them Crooked Vultures – Mind Eraser, No Chaser Lyrics | 14 years ago |
And clearly, I should spell-check. "Chaster" = "chaser," but "rejeckt" is how they spelled it. |
Them Crooked Vultures – Mind Eraser, No Chaser Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Here's the actual lyrics, using CD booklet (good attempt though, some of those lines are hard to understand): Run along face lift If it kills, I got news, it ain't a side effect Call it a full rejeckt or A fuel-injected, type corrected teenage obstacle (All I wanna do is have my mind erased) I'm begging you pleading you, stop coma-teasing us all (Drug company, where's the pill for me?) I call it mind eraser, no chaster at all (On permanent leave of everything) Law-abidding, dick-riding fun police, leave us alone (Dulling the edge of a razor blade) What does it mean when the knife and the hand are your own? Give me the reason why the mind's a terrible thing to waste? "Understand is cruel," the monkey said as it launched to space I know that I'm gonna be your dangerous side effect Ignorance is bliss until they take your bliss away Robotic mom bought me, DIY kit lobotomy Its a tuck, taste, dance craze, movie of the week You'll buy the doll, kick (up) the ball, then piss on the sheets All I wanna do is have my mind erased) I'm begging you pleading you, stop coma-teasing us all (Drug company, where's the pill for me?) It reads: "mind eraser, no chaser" in bright lights (On permanent leave of everything) New age goostep on a karma collision (Dulling the edge of a razor blade) What does it mean when the knife and the hand are your own? (Your own...are your own...your own!) Give me the reason why the mind's a terrible thing to waste? "Understand is cruel," the monkey said as it launched to space I know that I'm gonna be your dangerous side effect Ignorance is bliss until they take your bliss away Give me the reason why the mind's a terrible thing to waste? I know that I am, your dangerous side effect You know that I am your dangerous side effect I'm not sorry to say we just ran out of "give a shit" |
Colbie Caillat – Realize Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This song made me realize I can get sick of hearing the word "realize." |
Bob Seger – 2 + 2 = ? Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This is said to be the first anti-Vietnam song commercially released, beating CCR's "Fortunate One" by a full year. |
Bob Seger – Back In '72 Lyrics | 16 years ago |
A song about traveling, and frustration with the politics of the time. John Lennon was the first to coin the nickname "Tricky Dicky" for Richard Nixon, in the song "Gimme Some Truth." |
Bob Seger – Rosalie Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This is an ode to Rosalie Trombley, and hugely popular DJ at the time who was known for her good ear for finding hits. Not many people realize that Seger was actually quite annoyed with Trombley at the time he wrote this, though there are some "odd" lines in the song that very much hint at it, such as "she knows music...I know music too, y'see." Trombley had been unimpressed by Seger's last few releases, and had passed on playing any songs from them, despite being a being a fan of some of his other material. Hence the line "she makes the choices, and then you best be smiling when it's choosing time." |
Bob Seger – Get Out Of Denver Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Actually, that is incorrect. It's a song done in the style of Chuck Berry, but written by Seger (the studio version appears on his out-of-print album "Seven"). Seger: "It was more like Get Out of Aspen, really. I used Denver because it was a better rhyme...we played a club up in Aspen, and Aspen was such a high-priced ski resort that they were charging people at the door something like nine dollars with a two-drink minimum, which was another eight dollars to get in and see the band, so there weren't very many people in there. We played a six night stint there, and after about the fourth night we just said, 'This is it,' because we were playing for five or six people a night. We were fairly well known and everybody liked us, but nobody wanted to pay 17-18 dollars just to sit in a club and watch us. "What happened is, my manager, Punch, showed up to go skiing and we were walking out with our equipment...it doesn't really go with the story of Get Out of Denver, but that's how the real situation happened." http://www.segerfile.com/seven.html |
Kenna – War In Me Lyrics | 18 years ago |
According to the lyrics that are/were hidden on the NewSacredCow site, he says "I suffocate in all of it" and "I suffocate and choke on it" (rather of "in all of this" and "choke on air"). |
Kenna – A Better Control Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song *does* actually have words, though they're pretty much indecipherable through the vocal distortion. But they're actually written out, on the lyrics page that is/was hidden on the NewSacredCow site. According to that, the words are: Good interpersonal communication will afford you the respect of your peers and less opportunity costs in your job, friendships, and familiar settings. Thus, generating you a better control...a better control...a better control... |
Kenna – Vexed And Glorious Lyrics | 18 years ago |
According to the hand-written lyrics that are/were hidden on the NewSacredCow site, "only closer" should be "hold me closer." |
Kenna – Sunday After You Lyrics | 18 years ago |
There are several incorrect lines in this...I'm going to see if I can submit corrections. This is according the original hand-written lyrics, where are/were hidden in the NewSacredCow site: "I need Sunday..." should be "I named Sunday..." "Well, nothing's what..." should be "Where nothing's what..." And even though it doesn't entirely make sense to me, "it's clear my fate..." should apparently be "it's clear my fit..." Checking a dictionary, it appears "fit" once had an alternate use, defined as "a division of a poem or song." So maybe *that's* it. |
Kenna – Red Man Lyrics | 18 years ago |
The first word is actually "noise," not "voice." This is from the original hand-written lyrics that are/were hidden on the NewSacredCow site. |
Kenna – Man Fading Lyrics | 18 years ago |
It's "this life should be fantastic," not "this night." And as ridiculous as I know it sounds, it's actually "night force" not "nightfall." |
Kenna – Love/Hate Sensation Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Everyone seems to get the second "from here" line wrong...it's actually "a juggernaut from here," according to the original hand-written lyrics that are/were hidden at the NewSacredCow website. Random trivia: there are a few differences between the hand-written lyrics, and what was ultimately recorded. Most notible here is that medicine wasn't originally going to be spelled out. The original version goes: When medicine is how you live and breathe Then maybe that's not the help that you seek |
Kenna – Hell Bent Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Such a beautiful song...and even more so with the video going along with it. The first time I saw the video, it nearly brought tears to my eyes. I immediately hopped online...only to discover that the internet didn't seem to think this "Kenna" band existed. It was a few months before any real information started popping up on him. I went and watched the original version of the short, "More." I didn't feel like the music in that version had the same emotional resonance...and seemed more like soundtrack music. Which, yeah, put more focus on the short then...but again, lacked that emotional resonance. Random trivia: there are a few differences between original handwritten lyrics that are/were hidden on NewSacredCow.com and what was ultimately recorded. The only real difference in this song is the second verse, which was originally: When I awake The morning stars that bring me here Says everything's in me I'm between Pluto and God And all is hell bent |
Kenna – Freetime Lyrics | 18 years ago |
The line "I took the night car" is actually "I jump in my car." This comes from the original hand-written lyrics, that are/were hidden on NewSacredCow.com. Random trivia: there ended up being a few differences between the hand-written lyrics, and what was ultimately recorded. Most notibly here is the first verse, which was originally: I need the free time I need the to get away I need to breathe life And to get away from you |
Kenna – I'm Gone Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I just submitted a corrected version of the lyrics (with Papa Legba, etc.), hopefully they'll show up soon. Thanks for that info, rage.love...I didn't know about the studio names and things. "Revolution 1" is def. a Beatles reference. The line that the current set of lyrics thinks is "sitting outside/sitting out but/I don't care" is ridiculously incorrect. In reality it's "si ti das woh si ti krad woh," which is "how dark it is, how sad it is" backwards. This comes directly from the hand-written lyrics page that is/was hidden on NewSacredCow.com. Also, some completely random trivia: there are a few minor differences between the original hand-written lyrics, and what ultimately ended up being recorded. Notable differences: - Papa Legba on adrenaline patch - Static buzzes harsh like my rooms TV show - Laughing gas makes friends |
