I'm Gone Lyrics

"Well, there's no free lunch"

Papa Legba on adrenaline
Lazy vultures circle around my head
Revolution 1 on the radio
The static buzzes harsh, worse than my rooms TV show

Everything's good, I'm gone
Nervous and wasted, thankfully
Happiness is being numb
I'm gone, I'm gone

Bonnie Brown's letting them in
Laughing comes, making friends
The Volvo Room writes the songs
While the giant plum plays along

Everything's good, I'm gone
Nervous and wasted, thankfully
Happiness is being numb
So I'm gone, I'm gone

Everything's good, I'm gone
Nervous and wasted, thankfully
Happiness is being numb
So I'm gone, I'm gone

Surprise, surprise
How t-t-t-time flys
When all is right
Surprise, surprise
S-s-s-s-sunrise
I'm getting by

Do, do, do, do, do, do...my, my
Nobody can tell
Si tidas woh si ti krad woh (backwards)
Oh well, oh well

Everything's good, I am gone
Nervous and wasted, thankfully
Happiness is being numb
I'm gone, I'm gone

Everything's good, I am gone
Nervous and wasted, thankfully
Happiness is being numb
So I'm gone, I'm gone

when it says "revolution one on the radio" is that an allusion to the beatles?

The first line is "Papa Legba on Adrenaline," not "how to up my adrenaline." And it is Bonnie Brown, not Bunny Brown.

this song is full of references, some of which pertain to the creation of the album itself. to answer raine's question, i really think the revolution one line is an allusion to the beatles. and if you look at the liner notes, parts of it were recorded between the papa legba house/giant plum studios and the volvo room, both of which are in malibu.

the line about bonnie brown is debatable maybe. there was a country music singer named bonnie brown who had a career with her older brother and sister between the mid-50s and 60s. the velvet underground also had a song called sweet bonnie brown.

google and wikipedia gave me this: papa legba is also the intermediary between Iwa and humanity, as part of the haitian voodoo practice. i don't really know how all of this intertwines in kenna's lyrics, but take from it what you will.

I just submitted a corrected version of the lyrics (with Papa Legba, etc.), hopefully they'll show up soon.

Thanks for that info, rage.love...I didn't know about the studio names and things.

"Revolution 1" is def. a Beatles reference.

The line that the current set of lyrics thinks is "sitting outside/sitting out but/I don't care" is ridiculously incorrect. In reality it's "si ti das woh si ti krad woh," which is "how dark it is, how sad it is" backwards. This comes directly from the hand-written lyrics page that is/was hidden on NewSacredCow.com.

Also, some completely random trivia: there are a few minor differences between the original hand-written lyrics, and what ultimately ended up being recorded. Notable differences:

  • Papa Legba on adrenaline patch
  • Static buzzes harsh like my rooms TV show
  • Laughing gas makes friends
