Blind Guardian – Wait For An Answer Lyrics 2 years ago
Saying they'll wait for an answer if fairly common in the series as well. Sometimes with an emotional backing, like when Casca asks Guts or Griffith.

When various lords/kings says they'll wait for an answer.

When the little crossbow guy(whose name I also forget), asks various ppl for answers. It's just a common theme. Where ppl walks away, and other say they'll wait for an answer.

"Don't look back tell me
Is it where you belong
A place in the dark
A song without hope" - Clearly speaks of Guts. Where the supernatural side of their world describes him, and his life.

"We're the last descendants
In the line of valiant soldiers
We're mistreated angels
We are the blackbird nation, we're the chosen ones
We're the last descendants
We're the tribe of unsung glory
We are the fallen angels
Well the time is right you shall be on my (side)"
- Speaks of how their mercenary band were powerful enough to be a nation unto itself. With how wars turned with their favor. And how the were betrayed by the nation they saved.

"I don't I don't I don't need anyone
Be with or be against me
I'm white I am chosen
There is not the slightest doubt at all
Not at all"
-Speaks of how Griffith refused to grow close to anyone. And was willing to sacrifice anyone, or anything for his dream.

"In lower airs we're ground down by their ignorance"
-Speaks of how the masses condemned them on the words of those in positions of authority. And in their ignorance spurned those who had saved them. Both when the kingdom betrayed them, and later when Griffith took over.

"Hate will grow like a foul cancer
To find a foe seems to be the answer
Round and round it goes on and again oh
I can't get it out of my head"
-This speaks both of how of how rage was consuming Guts, both literally(his berserker armor) and figuratively. And how rage(or just dark emotions in general) affects the supernatural side of their world, creating and strengthening monsters in the shadows.

"Wish I'd be a bird of prey
A pure and a blessed
A hawk who could ease the pain"
-Speaks of Griffith's original dream from before his mother died when he was a child. Of wanting to be the ruler of his own kingdom, to fix the many issues he saw in theirs. Something he later sacrifices of both himself and others endlessly to try and achieve. Eventually both succeeding and failing, sacrificing who he was(literally), to achieve it. Becoming a monster in most every way.

How does everyone miss this? They're called the bards, and I think it pretty obvious that it was was meant to be about Guts vs Griffith from Berserk. The Black and White hawks.

*WARNING!* Plenty of spoilers ahead.

Soldiers together, Griffith eventually betraying them all for power and glory - In the most despicable manner possible. Raping a woman who once loved him, and he saved from the very same act once upon a time. Who eventually gave up on him, and got together with Guts, the Black Hawk. All this as he sacrifices the friends that just saved him to monsters, and only Guts survives, losing an arm in his attempt to save the woman in question. She goes completely insane after this(becomes like a child, and loses the ability to speak).

The various decent guys in "The Band of the Hawk" that were labelled as criminals after having saved the country(of which Griffith once was one), are the mistreated angels. And worst of them all is Guts(The Black Hawk), who has lived a long life of abuse, betrayal, and general misery.

Isn't it supposed to be "With this smile on my bleak face"? That's what he sings in the official version, anyhow.

I have another possiblity to add here: Turíns father. "I'm lost in the depths of his eyes
I can't flee
Inner pain caused insanity
It's deep within
The fear and the hunger
Enslaved and denied
By my love and my enemies
I'm the ill gotten son." I'llgotten son, might reffer to Morgoth point of view. As he ever since the creation, thought of men as weak and the lowliest off-spring of Eru. It however somewhat far-fetched. But the rest fits like a glove.

However, the lines : "I'm trapped in darkness
Still I reach out for the stars
I'm moving in silence
I leave it all far behind." Makes me think of him, as he stands there, chained by Morgoth. And then there is the line:
"But
Don't you think
It's time for us
To bring to an end
Come play the song of death." Makes me think of when he found his wife again, after Turín had died.

You are right about it being a "Wheel of time" based song. But not about the point of view. Why would Ishamael say:
"Still I'll be on my way
Oh, light, let me out of here
I pray"?

Nope, the point of view probably vary from Rand Al'Thor's, Ba'alzamon and possibly Ishamael aswell. It may be from Rand's alone, merely including come comments that Ishamael and/or Ba'alzamon direct at him(I find this the most likely alternative).
