Viet Cong – Pointless Experience Lyrics | 9 years ago |
What a fantastic song! Everything from the mixing of the instruments to the internal rhyme schemes and alliteration of the lyrics. I can't stop listening to this song, this album and absolutely can't wait to see them live!!! I have no idea as to the meaning of it all. Is it about nothing? Everything? Who knows, and frankly, who cares when it sounds this good? |
Alvvays – Ones Who Love You Lyrics | 9 years ago |
@[matzoballsoup:626] updated. Don't want to steal credit for the correction though. Good ears!! |
Moonface – Daughter of a Dove Lyrics | 9 years ago |
Absolutely breathtaking song. Makes me wish I didn't give up on piano lessons as a kid.... Oh well, I'll live vicariously through Mr. Krug. |
Iceage – On My Fingers Lyrics | 9 years ago |
Lyrics are pretty much spot on as far as I'm concerned. One small little nagging thing though. Shouldn't it be "Marvel at this stunner"? Seems to make more sense that way to me anyways. If these are directly sourced from the album jacket, then disregard the above-noted correction. Other than that, fantastic song, fantastic album. One of my top picks for 2014!! |
Wild Beasts – A Simple Beautiful Truth Lyrics | 10 years ago |
A simple, beautiful Wild Beasts song. One of their best. Can't stop listening to this album... |
Braids – Hossak Lyrics | 10 years ago |
ahahahaha... yeah the kind of pizza that gives you indigestion... seriously though, great song, great album. |
Menomena – Pique Lyrics | 11 years ago |
hmmm... not so sure. i still hear "impossible to love'. seeing them live in a few weeks and will see if that sheds any light on the matter. now you have me second guessing myself... |
Real Estate – Green Aisles Lyrics | 11 years ago |
I always viewed this song as pro-suburbia. People have such a negative view of society expanding and eating up all the beautiful rural areas, that we're being careless as a species towards our planet. I think the singer is saying that maybe our careless lifestyles aren't so unwise, because he wouldn't have been able to experience this love he feels for this other person if it wasn't for suburbia, progress and expansion. So yeah, we're killing our planet by expanding our cities into forested areas but it's also kind of serene and beautiful at the same time... |
Menomena – Giftshoppe Lyrics | 11 years ago |
thanks for the help. printed lyrics would help but then that would take away all the fun in figuring them out... |
Menomena – One Horse Lyrics | 11 years ago |
absolutely floored. great album, wonderful closing song. can't wait to see em live again even if it's without brent this time around... |
Menomena – Pique Lyrics | 11 years ago |
i made you my best friend and i gave you reason to believe you were emotionally sated and socially complete when i grew up you grew lonely now i can't be what you need i'm nothing if i'm nothing but a yes man i try my best i guess my best is not enough and now i'm getting used to getting used by you so much so that i'm starting to feel right at home on the whipping post you're in my bones and you're in my teeth imperfect form from imperfect seeds and in the end i know that i can never let go cause pound for pound i know you'd let me now you made me with no clue as how to raise me to be a stand-up man you brought me into the shitshow without a penny or a plan now i'm a failure cursed with male genitalia a parasitic fuck with no clue as to amend you impossible to love you're in my bones and you're in my teeth imperfect form from imperfect seeds and in the end i know that i can never let go cause pound for pound i know you'd let me i'm nothing if i'm nothing but a yes man i try my best i guess my best is not enough and now i'm getting used to getting used by you so much so that i'm starting to feel right at home... |
Menomena – Pique Lyrics | 11 years ago |
thank you so much. that line bugged the shit out of me. will submit corrections, that sounds like it fits the spirit of the song better. |
Twin Shadow – Golden Light Lyrics | 11 years ago |
I think it means don't let all the attention you get from others go to your head. Just because he chases after her doesn't mean that she's the "golden light". And vice versa. |
Dirty Projectors – About To Die Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Holy shit, this song! Absolutely amazing. I can barely wrap my head around that drumbeat, nevermind everything else. Loving all the studio chatter hidden in the background. My pick of the album for sure!!! |
Twin Shadow – Patient Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Mr. Lewis Jr. hit pretty close to home with me on this one. Reminds me of a similar situation that happened not too long ago and I had all but buried. Funny how some songs bring back memories we had forgotten about. Ugggh! Great song, great album. |
Ramona Falls – If I Equals U Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Lyrics have been updated. Thanks again for the input. The meaning certainly does come around full circle with that last change. At times it seems like a child being alternately grateful and frustrated at parental guidance or perhaps a parent trying to live vicariously through his or her offspring. Or maybe both... |
Twin Shadow – Run My Heart Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Seriously one of the greatest sounding albums I've heard so far this year production-wise. Some lyrics corrections/suggestions that might help: "You don't run my heart you don't run my heart don't pretend you care" "You want to meet me out in the dark And you want me in misery park By the moon so low and lovely With the gloom that's above me" "You couldn't know what makes me dream And I could wear the things I've seen Like the shake of trembling things Like the ache of unused wings" "You want to be the one to believe it? Then be the one to believe it" Good job deciphering that spoken part at the end. It had me stumped for sure... Cheers! |
Ramona Falls – If I Equals U Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Thanks for the correction! I must have listened to that line a hundred times but the last few words kinda get drowned out. As for the whisper parts, I noticed something too but couldn't figure it out. Could just be some echoes from the reverb and delay on the vocals. Good ear though!! |
Magnolia Electric Co. – Map of the Falling Sky Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Tried to add these lyrics myself, but I imagine because someone already suggested this song without adding lyrics this cannot be done so I will do so in the comments section. ------------ I have paid my debts sometimes With awkward silences I was given two ears of corn and the bow I ate the one and sowed the other And brother, I aimed straight for the road... And brother, I aimed straight for the road... With my wings in one hand and lead in the other From the crossroads to the shore What the horizon only tells to us ghosts Is that when it's quiet in our hearts We become the diesel We become the smoke We become the prairie We become the spark And the only song coming in on the radio (The only song on the radio) And the only song coming in on the radio... Well you take that map of the falling sky And you lay it across your heart And the loneliness between us is right where you are... And the loneliness between us is right where you are... ----------- One of my absolute favorite Molina songs bar none. |
TV on the Radio – New Cannonball Blues Lyrics | 12 years ago |
great song about consumerism stifling a generation's rebellious spirit although some countries' youths still have that rebellion in their hearts, in north america corporations have tried to stop that by making people feel the need to keep up with the latest gadgets and toys, hence these lyric suggestions... hey girls, hey boys no don't mind the noise it's just the sound of being dragged ahead... and for the part you have ? at: ...all this death above extinguishing all that we've ever known turn your touch screens off and start harvesting the seeds that your parents sowed... |
The Love Language – This Room Lyrics | 13 years ago |
pretty sure the line is... "with all our friends stuck in their ways..." other than that pretty solid transcription! great song too! |
The National – Racing Like a Pro Lyrics | 13 years ago |
a glee reference in a discussion about the national? for shame... :) and now with my luck there'll probably be a glee/national crossover episode to punish me for saying that... |
Twin Shadow – At My Heels Lyrics | 13 years ago |
pretty sure it's 'i've got the pill for the bad dreams' |
Twin Shadow – At My Heels Lyrics | 13 years ago |
pretty sure it's 'i've got the pill for the bad dreams' |
Girls – Alright Lyrics | 13 years ago |
best song on broken dreams club? i think so.... |
The Tragically Hip – Tiger The Lion Lyrics | 13 years ago |
First off, I am not a huge Hip fan. I have always found them to be overrated and academic, but still able to craft a catchy melody or two. Tiger The Lion is BY FAR the absolute best thing they have EVER done. In my opinion the rest of the Music@Work album was boring as all hell, but this song salvaged it for me and is really the only song (maybe next to Nautical Disaster) that is worth mentioning in their catalog! If they wrote more songs like this, I would probably own more of their CDs. Gord Downie and company should probably follow a bit of the advice they liberally quote from John Cage and make their music more 'purposeless play' than radio-friendly and marketable. |
