You don’t know my heart
You don’t know my heart
So don’t you dare
You don’t run my heart
You don’t run my heart
Don’t pretend you can
I been workin’ on makin’ it start
Workin’ on makin’ it start again
I’m not in love
I’m not in love
I been workin’ on makin’ it start
Workin’ on makin’ it start but i cant
I’m not in love
Can’t you see I’m not in love
You wanna meet me out in the dark
You wanna meet in misery park
By the moon so low and lovely
With the gloom that’s above me
You couldn’t know what makes me dream
I couldn’t word the things I’ve seen
Like the shake of trembling things
Like the ache of unused wings
I been workin’ on makin’ it start
Working on makin’ it start again but
I’m not in love
I’m not in love
This isn’t love
This isn’t love
It’s that
I’m just a boy
And you’re just a girl
You wanna be the one to believe it
Then be the one to believe it
I’m just a boy and you’re just a girl
You don’t know my heart
You don’t know my heart
So don’t you dare
You don’t run my heart
You don’t run my heart
Don’t pretend you can
I been workin’ on makin’ it start
Workin’ on makin’ it start again but
(I BUILT THESE HANDS COLD ENOUGH FOR ME, COLD ENOUGH FOR ME, ITS NOT SO HARD TO SEE THAT YOU BELIEVE WHAT YOU BELIEVE)
This isn’t love
This isn’t love
It’s that
I’m just a boy
And you’re just a girl
You wanna be the one to believe it
Then be the one to believe it
I’m just a boy and you’re just a girl

    Lyric Correction

Seriously one of the greatest sounding albums I've heard so far this year production-wise.

Some lyrics corrections/suggestions that might help:

"You don't run my heart you don't run my heart don't pretend you care"

"You want to meet me out in the dark And you want me in misery park By the moon so low and lovely With the gloom that's above me"

"You couldn't know what makes me dream And I could wear the things I've seen Like the shake of trembling things Like the ache of unused wings"

"You want to be the one to believe it? Then be the one to believe it"

Good job deciphering that spoken part at the end. It had me stumped for sure...

    Cheers!

Gadjits, The
He reuses the verse melody from the previous album's "Dirty Little Religion", the topics of the verses are all over the place, and he packs too many words into one line (goes to show...) and too few in another (it's pretty hard to find), and rhymes "Henley Regatta" with "Persona non grata", but gets away with it all as only he could.

Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
