Such a lovely song :) i think, it's about a boy that really loves her. He makes her feel beautiful, he makes her feel happy, but she can't fall in love with him. She likes him, and she keeps on trying to like him even more, but it's not working, maybe because she is in love with someone else ("why can't I make this light my home"). Many of her other songs with Angus are about one boy she met and who doesn't love her, so maybe this boy here wants to be her new love but she can#t forget the other one? |

This is my absolute favourite song :) It took me long to understand what this is about, it is a song that grew on me, I think. When I heard it first, I did not really like it. I do not even like any other of his songs; maybe I should listen to them some more times. For a few weeks, I listened to this song all day long. Yeah well who cares :D I'll just say what I think this song means. Scott Matthews sings about being in such a mess, everything's terrible and you see no end of the pain. I think everyone has to point out for himself what this means, for me it was a horrible end of a relationship. And I wanted to help me to get trough everything, to shepherd me from all the pain and the heartache and the betrayal so bad, I wanted someone who could just explain to me what this all was about and how I could get rid of it. I think everyone knows this feeling, “herd me home through hurt and the past“, if you just think that you can‘t do it alone and you need someone to get you out. But then again you are the only one who can really stop all this, and no one can do this for you. “then leave me alone you have no choice“ And although it hurts so much you have to go trough the hurt, so that the white horse (I think it’s a metaphor for the hope) can get out of its cage which is your heart. Or maybe the white horse is everything good that happened but is unimportant now and you have to let it go before the pain can leave. But the song is not really about how you got to do that or how you can fix yourself again, it’s just about the endless pain which make you feel so small and helpless. Hell keeps on showing the dark and they keep on bringing you down. And deep down you know everyone has felt this way before, no matter what they tell or what masks they wear. Deep down everyone felt lost before at some point and could not take it anymore. Oh, I really love this song. |

I think this song is about a girl who is with a man who already is in a relationship. He dumped his girlfriend because he fell in love with the other girl or maybe just thought that the other girl expects him to decide between them or something. However, the singer never wanted this; she thinks that things were better before he left the other girl for her: "I never asked you to dump her Thought you knew we'd have a high life” Instead of putting her in rapture the man just messed up, now things are too serious. She really wanted him before ("destructive appetite", she took another girls boyfriend), but she did not want to be his number one, she was happy as a "side salad" and did not want to be the main course. Maybe the singer is much younger than the other woman is, because she says, "I may be young But I will grow up strong And by then she'll look like her mum" Eventually the man feels remorse and always tells her, she is too young for him and so she tells him that maybe she is young but the other girls will be old and not that pretty in a few years. At least if her mom does not look like Megan Fox, I think. |

I think -but thats only my opinion and it could be, that this is totally wrong- that there is a girl that many guys like or try to get, and he's convinced that he's the only one who really loves her and that the others are all going to let her fall after they had her. She'll spend the nights with them, but in the end, she'll realize he's the one and goes to him ( Baby doll, do you believe they'll catch you when you fall And when morning comes the sun is gonna shine Don't forget your minor keys your half-lit cigarette) So he doesn't really care about where she slept, because in a stupid way he trusts her. And he knows she doesn't really love him, but thats only because of the fact that she doesn't know he's the best for her (The love you need'll always pass you by) and he'll wait till she wants him, but in this time she cann tell him to go or to stay, he'll do whatever she wants from him, but he won't stop liking her. And when she says that she's leaving, everyone's lauhing because she tells that without ever really being anywhere where she can leave, he never really had her. And he realizes that he was a fool and everyone around him have always knew that it's nothing serious, it's just some hook up or something.. This is the nicest song ever... I absolutely LOVE the text! I don't think that the part with the eyes is a metaphor or something, I think she's just singing how it's really been: there is this guy who is with a slut and he's not the prettiest boy ever but still she likes him a lot and all her friends tell her, that he isn't that special and that she is so much cooler than his new girlfriend. And no one really take her serious or cares because evey one thinks it was only a crush and they never really been together so she can not be very hurt, but in fact, she is and can't tell anyone so that she just acts like she doesn't care. I can relate to mostly EVERYTHING in this song, except for the "bumping into him"-part. The best line is: "So I proceeded to get drunk and to cry and lock myself in the toilets for the entire night" after her friends said that she deserved someone better, because I can totally feel the situation and how this feels and that you really want to forget him and don't care about him, but you still do, even if he always picks the tramps.. |
