Take You Away Lyrics

when your feeling down
and your sky is grey
and the people that you love
well they have nothing lovely
to say

when your days are long
and lonlier than before
when your bed is cold
and the sheep are at your door

i'll take you away
i'll take you away
i'll take you,
i'll take you away
i'll take you away

when you're tired of working
like a slave
and the smell of the coffee bean,
well it just won't go away
and you friends, well they've got
nothing good to say
you just call out my name

and I'll take you away
I'll take you away
I'll take you,
I'll take you away
I'll take you away

and I'll take you away
I'll take you away
I'll take you,
I'll take you away
I'll take you away

I wish I had someone to take me away .. 'till then this song has got to do this .. just one question : " and the smell of the coffee bean, well it just won't go away" what does that mean? does she work as a waitress? isn't the smell of coffee something nice?

A little delayed in reply, but I interpret that line as her having a negative stance towards the smell of coffee because of its connotations. In the context, she's been singing about this monotonous, grinding life that is really difficult and draining: "When your days are long/And lonlier than before" and "When you're tired of working/Like a slave." People may drink coffee just to help them persevere through that kind of arduous lifestyle, so the "smell of the coffee bean" could be read as the necessity someone feels to keep pushing through (although seemingly not by their own will), "it...

"And the small of the coffee bean, well it just won't go away" I think it means work is haunting you and it's everywhere you go.

This song is essentially about how alcohol can be a comforting and easy escape for your daily troubles. The singer personifies alcohol and sings the words that alcohol might speak to you to persuade consumption. Throughout the song, alcohol says things like, "Hey, if you're feeling depressed, if you have no one to turn to, and if you can't sleep at night, then I'll be there for you."

My Interpretation

This song is a very deep and tender song, but it hides many meanings and many emotions. Let's start off with a few basic ones.

In the beginning, s/he states how life is very grey and sad, pretty much self-explanatory. It is saying how the people that s/he loves have no good opinions, and how even if s/he LOVES them they have nothing LOVEly to say. It's saying how they are not there for him/her, and do not care.

The second part, states how after working a hard day, after taking on the load and pushing through it all, that things do not feel as they should. Lonely and empty, s/he battles on. What s/he means by "when your bed is cold, and the sheep are at your door" states how when s/he is tired, and drowsy (the sheep come in from the whole counting sheep idea) the futile and meaningless sensation leaves him/her cold and alone.

"I'll take you away" means that when things feel like they are just crumbling down, leaving you under a heap of nothingness, that s/he will be there to take you away. To take you away from all the struggles that life loads on your shoulders.

The last part, is also self-explanatory. The whole "coffee-bean" part is probably, like Roxx means, is from his/her job. Working at a Cafe could be how his/her lifestyle is, and when the smell just won't go away, probably means that the struggle of work just won't leave her at peace.
