This song really connected with me when I re-listened to it recently. My ex was very very clingy and I would take the blame for everything and he always made me feel so bad for going out and having a life with my friends without him. But I still loved him. I gave in every single time. It wasn't until my friends pointed out to me how he kept making me out to be the 'bad guy' that I realized how much of a jerk he was. "You shouldn't make your move until you know the price" -- I wish I had waited to see if he liked me as a person before telling him how much I liked him. |

I love this song. <3 I don't have the time to really take a good look at this song, but I think it's about a witch who's banished from/driven out of town, and then it turns out that being excommunicated is a good thing for the witch's lover (whose kin is also different). I wish I had more time to really listen to the lyrics of this song because it's got to be the highlight of the album for me. Anyone else's insight would be greatly appreciated. :D |

Quick note that the first verse is: "Encaged in a memory/Encaged in a prison of guilt/Surrounded by reproach/And everybody knows" I think that this song is about losing someone and losing it -- the facade of being okay is shattered, hence the line "Your broken mask serves you no more". I'm not sure about the whole angel bit, but it seems like the angel (possibly a term of endearment) has left and the person left behind feels shattered. |

I think that this song deals with the fear of trying something new, something different. At first she describes wanting and waiting to feel ready. And once she's decided what to do ("running") she realizes that she wants to try something more risky that will lead her in a different direction. But in the end her fear gets the better of her: "I would rather stay here the rest of my life/Than close my eyes/Close my eyes and start swimming" This song always makes me think of those people who have stable jobs, but also have dreams of being rockstars. They could 'start swimming' and try to make it in the cut-throat music business, or keep their stable job and 'stay there the rest of their lives'. |

This song seems to be about a relationship where the couple have drifted apart and their hopes to "stay forever" have been destroyed. Just thought I'd mention this, but it seems like the little string pattern (especially after the guitar solo) is based on the strings in After Forever's "De-Energized". Or maybe it's just me, lol. I'm not too sure what these lines mean: "My euphoria, oh yes, you're worth the price Because when my mind gets clouded I forget about our fights" |

Just based on the title, you can guess that this song is about envy. However, there's a flip-side and Ronald's lines really sum it up: "Has the grass been greener on the other side at all?" You can be jealous of someone and acknowledge that, but in the end is what they have all that much better than what you have? And then you realize that you don't really want to be them. Well, that's my take on this great song. :) |

Beautiful song. Fairly straightforward: this song is about parting ways with someone you love deeply. I get the feeling that what's separating the two people in this song is death. It kind of reminds me of how some people refuse to actually say "goodbye" to people because that implies never seeing them again or something. |

Yup, since this whole album is linked pretty closely to Milton's Paradise Lost, this song is probably from Satan's POV (one of the main arcs). I think that this song pretty much sums up the whole "Better to reign in hell, than serve in heav'n" bit as he prepares his followers to help him wreak havoc on Earth. |

This song is amazing. There's a great power in the duality of the "bipolar" vocals. Definitely one of my top 10 songs of all time. And I totally agree with the first and third verses being a kind of "false happy". When I first heard this song, I envisioned a little girl or doll in a bright sunny room waiting for someone (who she loves). Then, as the sun sets, she becomes angry, sees that they were empty promises, and that the love was a lie. The music video is awesome, by the way. :) |

This song really is gorgeous. I think that it's about coming out of your shell with the help of someone who gives you courage. The fact that one of the lines is "Back in your arms" implies that the person faced something horrible which made them hide within themselves before coming out again with the help of that special someone. |
