Stay Forever Lyrics

Stay forever...

Silence in the living room
Hours feel like days
Silence when I speak to you
Your thoughts seem miles away

My euphoria, oh yes, you're worth the price
Because when my mind gets clouded I forget about our fights

[Chorus:]
Stay forever is never again
Our words have been spoken
It will come to an end
Stay forever is never again
Our words left unspoken
It will come to an end

Artificial energy
Running through my veins
Chemical, the love I feel
The faces without names

My euphoria, oh yes, you're worth the price
Because when my mind gets clouded I forget about our fights

[Chorus]

This empty house is not a home
Find the will to stand alone
Without your armor

Flesh and blood have turned to stone
Find the will to stand alone
Too late to turn away

[Chorus]

Stay forever...

This song seems to be about a relationship where the couple have drifted apart and their hopes to "stay forever" have been destroyed.

Just thought I'd mention this, but it seems like the little string pattern (especially after the guitar solo) is based on the strings in After Forever's "De-Energized". Or maybe it's just me, lol.

I'm not too sure what these lines mean: "My euphoria, oh yes, you're worth the price Because when my mind gets clouded I forget about our fights"

Lovely song! My take on this song is that a couple is fighting and the only way to deal with pain is through some strong drug that takes them away from the reality of it all. Seems to me they have given up trying to work out the difference and problems in their relationship and just get drugged together.

These lines support the drug part: "My euphoria, oh yes, you're worth the price because when my mind gets clouded I forget about our fights"

My Interpretation

I thought about drugs also, but without the couple fight part.

I see a person who is alone "Silence in my living room..." But when he/she takes the drugs, starts to feel good. Maybe an hallucinogenic drug that makes him/her feels better, with a couple or a friend, but he/she know that it will come to an end. On the second verse the drug part takes more intensity, especially with the part of "faces without names", that could be the persons who are with him/her.

And finally, he/she is without drugs again, and feels alone. "Flesh and blood have turned to stone" -> the faces without names are gone. "Too late to turn away" -> finally, he/she needs the drugs to be fine.

That what I thought about this song...

Well, one intesesting thing in Delain are the lyrics. They're not obvious :) and that's great!

The best one in my opinion.
