The Divinyls – I Touch Myself Lyrics
| 20 days ago

When the lyrics are " I don't want anybody else" it doesn't sound like she sings "want", it sounds more like "book" (" I don't book anybody else")!?!? It is clearly an o-sounding vowel and maybe "k" rather than "nt". What's up with that!? |

@MaggieMichelle So what do you think now, 17 years later, when you are 38? I hope you haven't forced children to live under the circumstances you describe above. I certainly haven't. |

Imperiet – Saker Som Hon Gör Lyrics
| 11 months ago

Hole – Asking For It Lyrics

@[electricxcherry:38820] I once went to a Prodigy gig where the white guy jumped into the crowd. People ripped of his shirt (I still have a piece of it somewhere). His jeans survived though. This has nothing to do with sexism and all to do with an excited audience that wants a souvenir. If you, as an artist, want to jump down into the crowd, better wear some really durable clothes, or the crowd will rip it if you, no matter your sex. |

Saint Etienne – Like A Motorway Lyrics

@[woahhello:35899] Yes, I agree that it refers to a suicide. She made him unhappy for wahtever reason so he killed himself. But since she genuinely cares for him, his wellbeing is more important to her than even their love affair and she would gladly sacrifice her love if he had survived. |

@[cryinglovers:5910] I see why you could interpret it as about sex but it could also be interpreted as about some psychedelic trip. |

@[nimrod_punk:4434] I also read this interview but it feel really far fetched that the verses in this song is about that (the chorus is different). It feels like the chorus is disconnected from the verses (or vice versa). |

Icona Pop – I Love It Lyrics

I just read all comments to this song and you completely miss the Swedish cultural context in your interpretation, with one exception francescalivion (that, on the other hand, say they are british). You should interpret it more or less literally. She breaks up with a guy and then start to enjoy her freedom by doing crazy things. Maybe not crashing a car into a bridge but possibly throwing her (or someone else's) bike into the water from the said bridge. The boyfriend is quite much older (born in the 70s, while Aino and Caroline are born 86 and 87 respectively, that is, their childhood is during the 90s). She accuses this guy for being boring (different road vs milky way), probably just enjoying watching TV at home etc while she wanna travel, go to night clubs, meet new people and so on. She also realises that she enjoys her new independent lifestyle.
Crap song by crap band. They where crap when I first saw them on a small festival 2011, they are still crap when I saw them on bigger stages this summer. The only good thing with this band is the name, which is brilliant. But a name does not compensate for major un-indieness. |

Ruby – Paraffin Lyrics

I think the paraffin part is even more »risqué» than your interpretation: I read it as she, literally or not, let him taste her (and taste should not be read as "kiss").
I also think she is not completely satisfied with her partners performance:
There's a flower thief in my back yard again,
I'll grin my teeth to make him stay,
But what does she mean with these two phrases:
* wrapped up
* Could stretch a battle ship, |

So what is the lyrics about? This is my alltime favourite track all categories but I don't understand the lyrics - very frustrating! Do they refer to something you need to be American to understand/know about or what? |
