As Father O’Blivion was mixing the batter for the Saint Alfonzo’s Pancake Breakfast fundraiser, he couldn’t remember why the batter was so frothy. He had stayed awake too late the night before - he forgot to watch the clock while a leprechaun (an alter boy) stroked his “smock”. It set him off in such a frenzy, his penis stiffened and burst right through his sock, topping off the pancake batter with his load. Saint Alfonzo would be proud of him and his sleazy pancakes - may the lord be with you, and with your spirit, indeed.

The song is a take on the sort of diner depicted in Edward Hopper's painting, "Nighthawks at the Diner".

The Thomson Twins are a unusual band for a start their lyrics where not particularly deep or interesting although their acolytes were, they changed from a cool band into a pop band for commercial success, as a teenager I liked the sound I went to the same school as Bailey but feel no connection to them says alot really .

Well if it is depicting high school cheerleaders but in a dark last death dance theme . I think this song is about young people rushing to get through hard times high school rushing to grow up sometimes in the haste the young rushing make bad decisions that have life long implications or in this case the ultimate demise you die before you get the chance to take it slow realize your potential . But when your young high school it can be hard to see the "daylight " in life or you're "bad dream". The world is amazing...

But when your young high school it can be hard to see the "daylight " in life or you're "bad dream". The world is amazing but it is filled too with cruel things too" but u just gotta "hang tight" you gotta struggle through" you know take it slow to see that daylight hang tight . But no just like those girls you go rushing through life or driving ur car fast and you burn right through that bridge and they end up crashing and dying. But by the time the driver realizes it she is already at the end of her death dance . The damage is done and they all paid the price for not hanging tight taking life slow through the struggle to the daylight through the cool world and cruel things of there bad dream . But it's not a dream they are dead and there is no daylight in death.

I think as a whole this song's album uses the '69 Moon landing as the basis of mankind moving out into space and to settle distant planets, where it quickly becomes science fiction. I get a very Robert Heinlein-esque Lazarus Long like character who is perhaps from a 1st or 2nd generation of humans who has never known Earth first hand. I never thought I'd live to be a hundred... a million. Science advances human life expectancy to near immortality.

With immortality we'll cease to need or want to procreate. And over time deep in space we'd become fewer and increasingly lonely. I think that Sun is Still Shining and Watching and Waiting are both examples of the space humans attempting to recruit more people out into space. The latter with a more melancholy tone, as most people didn't come or couldn't come or didn't make it. And so the solitary narrator is lonelier than ever, experiencing the freedom we're all seeking but most never come anywhere close to achieving.
