This song definately combines the amazing aspects of a ballad and punk song together in one. The lyrics help make that transition too. In the beginning half of the song, it's about boredom, having no where exciting to go and wanting to go to "Christie Road" (which I suspect is a metaphor for some kind of place BJ wants to go to?) and then as soon as the song picks up some speed and intensity, BJ is now saying "If there's one thing that I need That makes me feel complete So I go to Christie Road It's home..." as if he made it to the place he wanted to go to. Did that make sense? Anyways, it's one of Green Day's greatest songs and is even more incredible live!
