I saw Jann in concert last year when she was in Ottawa and she explained how hard it was for her to perform this song because of its meaning. She wrote it to describe what her brother (who is currently doing time in jail for murder) must feel everyday; the guilt and remorse he feels not only for what he's done but for what his past mistakes continue to do to his loved ones today...i think it is the ultimate song about regret...if you ever get a chance to see Jann Arden in concert do it - she's a truly phenomenal woman.
