the expression "Used For Glue" relates to racehorses. when a horse has reached the end of it's career it is killed and basically turned into glue. therefore it means that no matter how good a racehorse you've been, you're still going to have a shitty future. i'll explain...
basically it's about a relationship in which the guy does everything he can think of to make the girl happy, but she never seems happy with him, and he feels that the relationship now will only end in pain, no matter how much he puts into it.
he is not himself, acting in a way he wouldn't naturally so that he might please her and her friends, but it still just doesn't work, and he sees it all as his fault.
"a sound that can't be still" is something that continues to be heard, so the whole relationship is beginning to come repetitive. all he hears is how unhappy she is, all her friends hear is him grovelling to her, trying to be perfectly something he isn't.
