I see this as Eddie confronting the people that listen to and purchase Pearl Jam's albums just because Pearl Jam was incredibly popular. They were just doing it to fit in, to be like everyone else. It happens to every great band that becomes huge. But the key is not to lose your intergrity. Pearl Jam have remained one of the remaining true bands. Their music is art, pure and true, and they don't sell out for anything.
