I analyized this song a few years back in my grade 11 english class. Basically everything I concluded has already been stated. Circle of life is seen through the roots, trees and mantle. The song focuses more on death however, which is apparent in the title.
One section that just baffles me is, "White as the down of flaking snow, the heroic emblems of life." If I ever figure out what that means then my life will be complete.
The concept that you and the earth are made up of the same substance is what I enjoy most... aside from the guitar solo which I find pleasing as well.
well i have a different explanation for the first verse. i view it as ore about perseverance through a struggle. he is addressing the flower and saying it is the artist and the texture... etc. "when the roots that feed the peaking trees embrace the sleeping stone" refers to when the roots stop growing because the ground is cold and hard like stone. the floweryard is haunted by the lingering flower that wont die out, thus making it a "heroic emblem of life" (and also white from the snowfall) perhaps green is the clor of his death because the flower...
