I never considered this song to be about heroin use...

I interpreted as a love song to another guy. First Brian Molko is confused and surprised by this desire -- maybe even feeling the stigma of it (Never thought you'd make me perspire. / Never thought I'd do you the same. / Never thought I'd fill with desire. / Never thought I'd feel so ashamed.) Then he sings of the restraint he had to undergo because of the way people view these feelings (Never thought I'd have to retire / Never thought I'd have to abstain). And the rest is about how the relationship fell apart.

Or at least that's how I see it... It's one of Placebo's best nevertheless.

PoizonComeUndone, that's how I interpretted the lyrics the first time I heard it too, I still think that's what the song is supposed to mean. Apparently some people are saying it had something to do with an obbssessive ex-girlfriend who killed herself or something. But still, I like the idea that it's to another guy better, and it makes more sense that way.
