the way i see it... the blackbird symbolizes the broken soul from a broken life. what most people with broken souls don't realize is, you don't have to start completely over from scratch to make a life for yourself. you can simply take what you have and learn to deal with it and make the best of what you already have, no matter what the situation. "take these broken wings and learn to fly."
This goes with one of my favorite sayings and reminds me of it-- "Even the most beautiful rainbows can be colored with broken crayons."
