i believe this song is about a guy (or girl) that has had a troubled relationship with an ex, and have finally moved on. at the begining of the song, he's talking about how maybe he doesn't want to see her, and acting cool. then when they try to reconsile, he doesn't do or try much, for he relizes he doesn't care anymore, he's moved on. he's flashing back to the "breakup" or what have you, and saying to them now that he doesn't care. "it's not fair to expect words... of beauty. i'm not feeling very poetic... today". he might have something to say to her, but not right now. at the end of the song, he puts her to rest. he's moved on, and he wants to make sure she knows it. "with a thousand words not missing you... and i'm not going to call". fuck her, he thinks, there are plenty of other fish in the sea. he doesn't want to make her feel bad, but it's the only way he can move on.
