No one's posted on this song in years and I don't expect replies but I just want to say that this song is the most beautiful thing. Without even getting into the lyrical symbolism, I have an eating disorder and the actual melody, the piano and background music, encapsulate something about that that no other song has ever done for me. I know given my eating disorder this might sound weird, but for me, this song is the feeling of hunger. Hunger like an ache in my bones, hunger for goodness, for hope, for transcendence, for salvation. Hunger to escape pain. Hunger to escape self-hatred. Hunger to escape being human.
