Un Pais Con el Nombre de un Rio Lyrics

Cover art for Un Pais Con el Nombre de un Rio lyrics by Jorge Drexler

A gorgeously elegiac love song for Drexler's Uruguay which, as all great lyrics do, hits wherever you are from round these here parts. "A dream and a passport, We seek the North like birds When the winter comes and the cold starts to bite. And this has been a long winter, It's been decades of bitter pills" Whichever side of the big brown river you dwell, that hurts - as does the fact that it still applies a quarter of a century later.
