The End of the Innocence Lyrics

Cover art for The End of the Innocence lyrics by Don Henley

Although Henley covers a lot of topics, political, etc. moving from childhood to adulthood, the theme of lost virginity I feel is prominent, as in the title and reiterated in the last verse. And the tall grass wave in the wind Just lay your head back on the ground And let your hair spill all around me Offer up your best defense But this is the end This is the end of the innocence
