To me this song speaks to a child, no just of divorce, but of possibly one who has been abused (hence the "silver wings knowing suffering") that tears apart the one who sees what is taking place and is powerless to stop it. So the song appeals to a Higher Power to have a Master Plan for the child so they don't grow to have a jaded heart, because they truly are loved by someone. To me this is truly a beautiful song, start to finish.
