People sometimes say that you should try and date a lot of different people, so you can "figure out what you want" before you get married or have a long-term relationship. I don't think this advice is always a good idea, and this song sort of explains why. It sounds like the narrator was in a generally good relationship, but she felt an urge to explore. Now she regrets her choice, but her former boyfriend/husband has moved on. He is involved with/married to someone else and has a whole different life now. Hence the "You're living in another world".
One day I overheard a co-worker talking to another co-worker. She mentioned that she had been with her husband for ten years, and now she realizes that her previous boyfriend was the man who made her the happiest. He was now married to someone else. It sounded like she was staying with her husband as a second choice. (Which I think is unfair to the husband.)
