I think it more has to do with the idea that you are visiting a new place and seeing all these historic landmarks, even something as simple as a 300 year old park bench, but everyone is just fixated on where your next drink is coming from. Commentary about tourism in general- the “culture” you are getting is just drinking in a new place.
