I have always heard this song as post-apocalyptic. Something big happened. It doesn't matter what. (There are so many to chose from.) The narrator and his lover survived, and find that they miss Diary Queen. I just heard it again. I like it a lot. I don't care what they say, this was a great album. It's just different than what came before it. BTW, watch True Stories. (That's what came before this.) There's nothing like it.
