Rob (lead singer) put the following on twitter a few years ago about the album as a whole, which I think explains a bit of what's going on in this song:
To clarify, the album is entitled "Summer in Abaddon". The narrator character of the album title has gone incognito for a summer job in a cruise ship bar band featuring Anthony "Abaddon" Bray of the Newcastle black metal pioneering band Venom that becomes lost at sea, wherein the surviving bandmates experiment with entering each other's subconscious to stave off madness, ironically leading to the narrator seemingly becoming trapped inside Abaddon's psyche even though that is, of course, impossible, and the narrator if taken at his word, has merely gone insane.
