To me this is the song about finding trustable friends and getting out from the old place where forces them to be half dead.
like… I run away from my country in my 20s to find better place to meet people who has the same sense of value. This song was exactly about myself.
Being different from others puts you under the spotlight. People see you and treat you differently, so you don’t feel that you belong to anywhere which makes you feel lonely. In that kind of community you have to choose if you change your self (kill your heart and live like half dead) to stay there, or just get out. And He chosen to get out, because he saw the chance (The Used) is coming and learned there’er friends to change their life together.
When you are freed from the pressure, you’d appreciate every moment that you can be yourself. No doubt.
And since the lyricist is very kind and really care people, he wants to share the beautifulness of the freedom together with everybody who cares each other (This part is something special about this band)
