I LOVE this song. It has very personal meaning for me. I, from the north, fell in love with a Southern gal. I still love her. It's been over 30 years. But, I never made her wet. She only ever - and still does - saw me as a friend. I have accepted that I will always be relegated to the friend zone. But I need her in my life, however that may be. I was married once to someone else, but she was just a northern girl and it didn't last. I shall remain alone for the rest of my life, knowing that I lost my Southern gal, although I never exactly had her to begin with.
