For me personally i cant have one interpretation due to a lot of opinions around me but what i think is that fake plastic trees somehow represent how we try to fulfill our life with materialistic stuff but in the end we know that it doesn’t have any value. Why should we water plastic tree if doesn’t need water? We create our reality like that thinking that we have a purpose in life but we re living in distractions everyday… second thing is love in this song, probably love that had faded because it always fades as we age, and spend time together everyday and it doesn’t feel like it was. I cant really interpret “ the gravity always wins” in one way i think that it can mean that we have no control to our life and were dont know why we were born either way- we have to deal with this so “gravity always wins” = no control due to societal expectations and norms. “It wears her/him/me out” means realy what it means- it wears everyone, the whole curse of existence. “And if i could be, who you wanted” i guess that any person has been through this, we usually expected to be who society tells us, and thats whats the most heartbreaking- we really cant. Also you can relate to someone that you cant satisfy or make tgem proud. Sorry for mistakes i really tried to put my mind into one piece i suck at interpreting songs and also english is not my very first language so you can correct me!!
