Sorry fans, but this song is pretty dull. I like it better when R.E.M did it as It's The End Of The World As We Know It. The similarities are striking, but the ambiguity of REMs version is timeless, whereas Joel's is pretty much stuck in the 20th Century and topical, and his clawing and groping for significance just makes it pretty daft. Much like Mr. Joel himself.
